Mystical Lady June 19, 2007 June 19, 2007 I have 2 clowns and they are doing some sort of 'dance'.... could it be courtship?? when close together they both seem to 'quiver' violently... they only do this when next to each other..... is this normal??
dschflier June 19, 2007 June 19, 2007 Its called the funky chicken. This is a common dance amoungst chickens and just recently has been observed in clownfish.
fab June 19, 2007 June 19, 2007 (edited) That behavior seems very familiar... Not only that, but I think I've even seen it in aquariums before, also. Why don't you capture it on video. Then we'll have some X rated stuff for the symposium this weekend. fab Edited June 20, 2007 by fab

bk_market June 20, 2007 June 20, 2007 my clownfish always shrugs next to each other. I thought they got ich and was stress out but they seem fine and do that once in a while. Anyone know what these mean?
bigJPDC June 20, 2007 June 20, 2007 Yes - they are courtship behaviors. Usually I see the male do it. There is a clownfish 101 guide somewhere, try the clownfish forum on RC. Over the weekend mine spawned for the first time ever, which is kinda cool. I swear it's because of my eductor. jp
