Guest JasonD May 25, 2007 May 25, 2007 Dropped by my old FW Mecca today in beautiful Randallstown to check out their SW side. They have a relatively small SW section with average prices -- some good deals, but mostly average for most fish. I saw $20 for false percs, $50 for Yellow Tangs, and $80 for Blue Hippos. I didn't see any sick or diseased fish. Corals seemed a bit steep and a limited selection for such a large store. They did have a Moorish Idol that's eating frozen food...I'll leave it up to you to decide if that's a good thing. They had better than average looking live rock, but at $8-$12 a pound I had to laugh. Very limited saltwater equipment. The best they have are Prizm skimmers and wet/dry filters. I've not seen another store with so many wet/dry filters for sell. As always, this store has the most selection and best prices on tanks, period. This store still is king when it comes to FW and cichlids, but only average on the SW side. But if you want a new tank, this is where to go.
Black Mammoth May 28, 2007 May 28, 2007 (edited) Are the tank deals better than Scales? When Scales first opened up, I got an 90g AGA RR for $180. I ask this because I envision another tank sometime in the future Edited May 28, 2007 by Black Mammoth
Guest JasonD May 28, 2007 May 28, 2007 When I was tank shopping, I went to Scales and a 90 was a lot more than $180. I think that was a one time deal.
sheac12 October 14, 2007 October 14, 2007 I went up to Aquarium Depot last weekend (10/06/07) and was not impressed. I felt that the tanks were over priced and the staff not that knowledgeable. Not to mention when I was looking around at the live rock they wanted way too much per lb. The only thing that really bothered me was the fact they had some large triggers stuffed into some really small holding tanks.
jason the filter freak October 16, 2007 October 16, 2007 I have no exp input here, but my customers who have been there were not impressed, hence they came back to us... which isn't saying a whole lot for marine depot
extreme_tooth_decay November 14, 2007 November 14, 2007 After they closed and reopened, they have significantly less SW stuff. Not worth the trip for me anymore. I drove by this weekend on my way to That Fish Place and didn't even bother stopping. tim
PupChow November 23, 2007 November 23, 2007 I used to be a regular there when I was going to school around the area a couple years back. I would always find some nifty new inverts / coral / fish each week. Now I pretty much always leave empty handed. :( Although still a HUGE selection on tanks at very decent price.
reefmontalvo February 13, 2008 February 13, 2008 Where are they located? And are the prices reasonable?
Highland Reefer February 13, 2008 February 13, 2008 Where are they located? And are the prices reasonable? The Aquarium Depot 3689 Offutt Road Randallstown, MD 21133 Store hours: Monday - Friday 10am - 9pm Saturday 10am - 8pm Sunday 11am - 6pm -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I like the fact that they do have a lot of items I can not get at other LFS near me. I needed some PH Monitor calibrating solution and they had it. Plus they have the Salifert Test Kits also. Their prices are not bad. The new owner's just bought the old owner out and they are not quite what the old store was, but have improved. Phone: 410-521-4529 Fax: 410-521-5620 E-mail: info@aquariumdepot.net
