Guest JasonD March 30, 2007 March 30, 2007 (edited) I see a lot of folks have bought corals from Dr. Macs, but does he have a good selection of LR at his Salisbury store? From reading his website, it looks like his rocked is shipped from LA to your house. I want to hand pick my own LR, and don't want to drive all the way out there if they don't have anything better than the stuff I've seen at the LFS's around DC (12 bucks a pound for wet white rock???). jamesbuf March 30, 2007 March 30, 2007 I would start off with half live rock and half base rock. I've heard good things about the rock from this place: http://www.reeferrock.com

Several people have live rock for sale in the For Sale forum. Most around $3-$5/pound - depending on the size of the rocks. bob

madmax7774 March 31, 2007 March 31, 2007 goto Blue ribbon koi $5.99 /lb fiji, and it's decent quality John
TROLL March 31, 2007 March 31, 2007 LR selection at Dr. Mac is pretty good. He has standard live rocks that are sold at all LFS at good price, $4.99 per lbs. However, he has premium quality LR at $7.99 per lbs- this selection is THE BEST and surpass all stores on-line and LFS. I got 18 lbs premium rock other day- it's 90% covered with coralline algae, deeeeeeep purple and absolutely gorgeous!
SteveD March 31, 2007 March 31, 2007 You can buy it directly from the store. The drop shipped LR is just a cheaper option that he offers. I've got about 100 pounds of his LR that I picked out at his store. The LR is good enough though not spectacular. I picked up about 20lbs of fiji LR from BRK today and it seems to be pretty good, but the verdict is still out. I suggest checking there first.
extreme_tooth_decay April 2, 2007 April 2, 2007 I've gone to Dr. Mac's sotre and hand picked LR for $2.69/lb. Best deal going. I got a couple 40lb+ peices, too. This was about a year or 2 ago. It may have been a slight sale (2.69 vs 2.99 or something) tim
jwildman April 2, 2007 April 2, 2007 I got ~200lbs of the $2.69 deal ... good rock, after 6-9 month you would never now the difference.
