Please let me know if you see something in these pics that I should be concerned about. Thanks. Overall pic These guys havent fully opend in a few days. The ones in the back havent opened in several days. These just did this today.
Sugar Magnolia February 25, 2007 February 25, 2007 (edited) It's hard to tell from your pics, but do you notice anything irritating them? Any sign of a white filmy substance? Also, check out this article: http://www.zoaid.com/articles004.php Edited February 25, 2007 by Sugar Magnolia
jason the filter freak February 26, 2007 February 26, 2007 I had the same thing I ended up losing my colony from valeria... :( Other corals are fine, if not perfect though
Gadgets February 26, 2007 February 26, 2007 Hey Steve! You should try a freshwater dip on them. see if that works. Anytime I see a few polyps looking bad, I give them a dip in RO water and they usually bounce right back.

Valeria February 26, 2007 February 26, 2007 I had the same thing I ended up losing my colony from valeria... :( Other corals are fine, if not perfect though Jason, What happened? How come you did not mention that? My colony is still doing well, I will frag it for you for the next meeting.

I usually dip mine for about 5-10 seconds. That is what worked for me, but you might want to check out the zoa dip thread on RC for more methods. It's in the zoanthid forum. I havent done anything with them yet and will keep an eye on them to see how they do.
rooroo February 27, 2007 February 27, 2007 I dipped my zoas in ro water and a few drops of lugols solution. It helped with one colony some time ago, but alas the real problem was sundial snails. They ate all my zoas some time ago. Now I have rid the tank of them and all new zoas are doing well. If I were you, I'd pick up the rocks that the zoas are on and look closely at them for a sundial snail, you can especially see them right when the lights come on in the morning. Not saying its definetly this but its always worth looking for a predator.
Caribbean Jake February 27, 2007 February 27, 2007 SteveM have you checked your water parameters lately? specially PH and ALK ? they are detrimental to Zoo's when falling out of range. (i.e.; PH > 8.6) (i.e.; ALK > 19 dKH).
ReeferMan February 27, 2007 February 27, 2007 his ph and ALk are perfect. He is having some problems with nitrate though
Caribbean Jake February 27, 2007 February 27, 2007 his ph and ALk are perfect. He is having some problems with nitrate though Ok, then have you tested for Phosphate?
SteveM February 27, 2007 Author February 27, 2007 Have not tested for Phosphate, dont have a kit for that. My nitrates are at 30 right now and I am working at lowering them on a daily basis. All my other readings are perfect. I keep my PH at 8.4 and my alk runs about 10.2. I did a fresh water dip on them today to see what happens. I havent looked for any snails but will check on that tonight. I also posted another thread on some other zoas that don't look right.
Caribbean Jake February 27, 2007 February 27, 2007 water changes. and lots of them will help you with Nitrate, as well as minimizing feeding amounts. hope that helps. good luck Jake
