We just got a frag of a Kenya tree from a fellow WAMAS member about 3 days ago or so. I mounted the guy on a piece of live rock when we got him and he was standing up. A few min after I did that, he must have realized that I touched him so his "trunk" got all shrively and he bent himself in half, and then all the way down. After about a few hours, he decided to unshrivel himself and he's moved slightly, but is still laying down (with the base of his "trunk" in the same position).

Now, I figured he's just mad at me. His color is still the same (no bleaching, no oozing of any kind) and his little polyp things (boy I'm a noob) are still closed. I know it can take a while for it to attach and all but my question is should I just let it chill out and do it's thing or is it waiting for me to do something for it.

Oh, by the way, addition of Viagra will not be considered

Thanks!

Let it be. the piece is adjusting to new parameters, new climate, and going thru the stress transistion. IF by any remote chance it does not survive, call me I will gladly give you a mature"big" Kenya Tree coral for FREE... there ae a least 7 pieces in my tanks, you can have as many as needed.

Same here. Kenya tree is almost indestructable, at least in my tanks. I took several large groups to the LFS a few weeks ago and refused to even accept a store credit and I already see several new batches approaching the to-be-pruned stage.

Agreed! I'm a newbie - and the very first coral I put in my tank was a little frag of Kenya Tree Coral. I still had some nitrites and nitrates - but I was celebrating getting ammonia to zero. It seemed fine the first day, but then it curled up into a ball for a day or two. Then it stretched itself out, and a month later, it's growing away!

Cool beans, thanks everybody.

If it does call it quits, I'll wear a tag at the next meeting I attend that says, "I'm the one who killed an indestructable kenya tree."

:wig:

It might have been me, I had a bunch of them and was giving them away.

I have more if you do actually kill it
