i just got the aqua controller from neptune and i calibrated the ph probe before using it and it reads 8.6 for my ph. i really hope this isnt correct. i followed the calibration instructions but i dont know if its right or not

Wow you're just buying up all the goodies lately aren't you? I don't own one of these but I plany to. From the threads I've read they're pretty darn accurate, it's best to cross check against another member with a decent piece of eqipment and/or a chemical test kit. just my .02

yea i doubt that is right. i may have calibrated it wrong even though i followed the directions. according to the diections you cant take the probe out of the water once its calibrated or i could take it to the store and have them do it for me so i know how to do it. yea i am upgrading my system right with more live stock and equipment. in a few months i will be getting a larger uv sterilizer and adding a closed loop

Did you use 7.0 and 10.0 solutions? You can pull the probe out of the water for a short amount of time just don't let it dry out. I keep a Salifert Ph kit on hand to check if I suspect the probe is off.

yea i used the 7 and 10 formulas

Did you run a ph test kit to compare to?

what if you take it out and test it in the ph 7 and ph 10 solutsions (what does it read?)

t stoped at 7.66 and 10.66. should i wait until it stops at 7.00 and 10.00 exactly?

When remeasuring AFTER calibration it stopped at 7.66?

OR during calibration 7.66 was where it stopped and you used that as a set point?

Dave

Did you swish the probe around in RO water and shake off gentley between the 7-10 solutions?

Or did you use 7.66 & 10.66 calibration solutions

i washed the probe with tank water i will try and recalibrate it washing it with tank water. these numbers are what it stopped on

You should stick the probe in the 7.0 and wait for the value to settle. Once it settles hit enter. It will prompt for the second calibration, which should be 10.0 entered. Rinse the probe in DI water then wipe it with a paper towel. Put it in the 10.0 and wait for it to settle. Once it stops moving hit enter. It will calculate a slope and be ready for use. Return to the main run menu and your ready to go. When it is reading in the regular operating mode stick your probe in 7.0 and see what it reads. You can check the 10.0 also. If it is not reading the correct reading the probe is bad. Of coarse make sure your buffers are fresh.

Yes, you should for accuracy, and rinse with DI water.
