xeon October 7, 2004 October 7, 2004 Pick up some bags of macros from someone who has them in their fuge at the meeting. The LFS might have them, but due to their size it will be hard to buy a bag of them. Copepods are larger than a "pin head", but not by much.
michaelg October 7, 2004 October 7, 2004 http://aquaculturestore.com/swinverts.html won't find them at a lfs. The above place has a lot of goodies for anyone interested in boosting pod populations.
Guest mikesroth October 7, 2004 October 7, 2004 If I knew how to farm them, I could get you some from Jen's tank. I am afraid to use her ALgae magnet she has so many on her glass. Atleast, that is what I am assuming all those white bug looking things are. I think that InlandAquatics.com is also supposed to sell them.
Caribbean Jake October 7, 2004 Author October 7, 2004 Perhaps LFS wont have copepods as individuals, but then they may have macros.. Sorry if it sound stupid, but how do you go about asking for macros with copepods? Just ask for macros with copepods?
gastone October 7, 2004 October 7, 2004 Jacob, I can bring some macro to the meeting for you. Lots of pod life.
Caribbean Jake October 7, 2004 Author October 7, 2004 Thank you Jim, that will make my Mandarin Dragon very happy. Looking forward to meet you. Jacob
Caribbean Jake October 7, 2004 Author October 7, 2004 For general information. Marine Scene has macroalgae for sale at 6.99 1/4 pound. They are currently out but will bring some few weeks
HowardofNOVA October 7, 2004 October 7, 2004 Hey guys, I'm adding my name in to someone looking for more copepods. Working on setting up my 90g in about a month and then my 29 Refuge under my 20g sump. I take it that from previous conversations that the best way to get more copepods is to make a better habitat for them? AKA Refugium correct? Howard
michaelg October 7, 2004 October 7, 2004 Yes, give them safe harbor from the always hungry fish and they will flourish.
Guest mikesroth October 8, 2004 October 8, 2004 Peter has some 'Fake' old looking pottery in his Big tank, and we saw TONS of them moving around in them. Looked like they were pretty safe from the bigger fish in his tank. You could probably do something like that with an upside down shell, or something like that.
smarsh97 October 8, 2004 October 8, 2004 Has anyone order the "Portion of Pods" from Floridapets.com? I just did becuase I don't ever see any pods in my tank at night. Another question (as you can tell I am a newbie) is chaeto good for the back of a jbj nanocube? I have some kind of macro back there but I have no idea what it is. Sandy
