martin January 15, 2007 January 15, 2007 I had to go to Super Petz for a part. I was depressing to see how bad the salt water tanks looked. Too bad Atlantis and BRK are so far away.

I stop in there once or twice per week for crickets and can't recall the last time I did not see at least one dead or near-dead fish in one of the SW tanks. After what I've seen, I wouldn't even consider buying a fish there.
ChrisS January 15, 2007 January 15, 2007 I stop in to Super Petz once a week to buy crickets as well. I always walk through the SW section and it's always just sad. I was going to pick up a flat pack of PE mysis while I was there last week. When I got to the freezer the packs were all mishapened, a strange brown color, and covered with something slimy. So what did they do? Let the frozen food sit out and rot for a couple of days and then throw it back into the freezer and try to sell it like that? Do they feed that stuff to their fish? The PE mysis I picked up at Marine Scene wasn't any better. I got the cubes there and when I opened them at home the pack was covered in ice crystals and the top layer of the mysis was completely freezer burnt, dried out, and decicated. So into the trash those went. I would have taken them back but it would've cost me more in gas to drive back out there again. Why does noone carry the PE mysis (at least none of the good stores) around here? I have to get it up in Balitmore. It's all my seahorses will eat so it has to be PE brand. They use to eat the Hikarri brand but the last couple of times I've bought that the shrimp have been tiny and all broken up. My seahorses just ignore it like that. Oh yeah, when I metioned to the sales guy at Super Petz that I was feeding seahorses. He points out that they have seahorses for sale. When I tell him that I wouldn't buy one from them he tries to convince me that they're really captive breed (like I believe that...those horses are the tank-raised ones that are flooding the market right now from Indonisia). I asked him what breeder they're from and of course he can't tell me. When I point out that maybe it's not good for those tiny horses to be in a tank with Aptasia bigger then they are he just shruggs. I just love how thier tanks are full of aptasia, mojos, colonial hydroids, and red turf algea.

I talked to Linda (I believe that was her name) on setting up a WAMAS Discount, so far, still talking!

I'd drink the water from SuperPetz's tanks before I'd buy a fish there and put it in my tank. Hands down the worst saltwater LFS I know. Petco is better.
