jamal December 21, 2006 December 21, 2006 i know nothing of auto top off or what is required to set one up. i need a 3/4" bulkhead so i will be goin to brk for the first time finally after several failed attempts recently. but what do i need to set one up. i know this is a meaty question but i dont know enough to ask intelligent questions.
cbashaw December 21, 2006 December 21, 2006 You will need to get a float switch to put in your sump, a small pump for topping off. and a container to store the water in. I use an ultralife float switch with a Maxijet 1200 for my pump and it works great. I have heard good things about the JBJ auto top off and the Tunze Osmolator. When you get to BRK ask them about it and they'll help you find what you need.
kngfisher December 21, 2006 December 21, 2006 see if they have a aquahub Top-it-Off Kit .... very easy... all you need is a pump/powerhead .... it comes with the rest
extreme_tooth_decay December 21, 2006 December 21, 2006 I don't use a float switch...I don't trust them. I just got a 1 Gallon/hour (peristaltic) pump and put it on a timer. About 1 hour per day is right for my tank. I'm using an AquaMedic SP3000. Ive heard others say it's a POS, but I've never had problems. Another choice would be a kangaroo, which people seem to like better. I see some kangaroos on ebay right now for buy it now of $100. tim
kngfisher December 21, 2006 December 21, 2006 (edited) don't understand how a marsupial would help but hay if you can train one to box i guess accomplishing a water top-off would be a cool thing to see Edited December 21, 2006 by kngfisher

dandy7200 December 22, 2006 December 22, 2006 I suggest a aqualifter pump for ATO if you don't go with a peri pump. I have the kangaroo22 and it rocks.
