jamesbuf November 21, 2006 November 21, 2006 (edited) So after reading about all the success of recirc mods, I'm looking to put one on my ASM G5. I'm looking for pump advice. Needlewheel? Threadwheel? Also wanted to see if people just bought kits to do their recirc mods, or just DIY. Any help is much appreciated. Edited November 21, 2006 by jamesbuf
cbashaw November 21, 2006 November 21, 2006 Check out the thread on RC for the Mesh Wheel mod. People have been saying lots of good stuff about it.
jamesbuf November 21, 2006 Author November 21, 2006 Is that the same as the threadwheels that I've seen used on the ATI skimmer?

Body diameter, neck diameter, body height, neck height, current pump/pumps used.

It's one of the easiest DIY projects you could do -- if you are just doing the basic mod. I am using the stock Sedra 9000 that came with my G4+ and feeding it with a MJ1200. Works great for me. With 2 9000s on the G5 I would imagine you could just recirc 1 and leave the other as the feed and see what that does for your production. All you need is a hole saw and a short section of 1 inch PVC.

I thought about doing it that way, but I'm afraid that having just one sedra 9000 pushing up the entire water column would burn out the pump too fast. I guess its not that much pressure when you think about it. I would probably need a uniseal also. Definitly an option. Plus by having just one pump feeding the skimmer, it would slow down the water going through the skimmer which would give the recirc pump more time to recirculate. hmmmmmmmmmm

I did just sell my old 125 setup for $400 though. hmmmmm I graduate at the end of July 2008. Thats when I'll be able to afford a deltec. Or whatever the best skimmer is at the time.
