squiddly October 13, 2006 October 13, 2006 Anyone know where I can get algae clips whose suction cups don't just "stop suctioning" after a couple months? My monster tangs would surely appreciate it. Thanks!
jason the filter freak October 13, 2006 October 13, 2006 what about one attached to a mag cleaner? then you can move it where ever you want
Guest alex wlazlak October 13, 2006 October 13, 2006 ill let you know my secret: i just throw the desired size of algea in and let it do what it does. with my tang (thats why i feed algea) he ends up just ripping it off the clip so in the long run, alot more easyer just to throw the stuff in the tank rather to try and make the clip stick all the time..
steveoutlaw October 13, 2006 October 13, 2006 I just use the suction cup from one of my old SEIOs (one from a heater will work too) and I use a rubberband to secure the algea to the suction cup. I haven't had a fish pull it off yet.
squiddly October 13, 2006 Author October 13, 2006 I use the mag cleaner mentioned earlier. Thanks for the ideas, guys. Why didn't I think of that? :-)
BeltwayBandit October 13, 2006 October 13, 2006 Thanks for the ideas, guys. Why didn't I think of that? :-) Because someone else already did! Thats the beauty of forums such as these. The learning curve is vastly accelerated. On the learning side of things, one tip. When you use the magnet make sure that once the fish have demolished the Nori (which mine usually do in about 5 minutes) to clean out the little bit that remains under the magnet. If you don't it gets all gookie (yes that is a technical term.) BB

BB Then I smear it all over my tank and wonder what happened, then start calling people saying some strange fungus invaded my water and everything is going to die, help help :-).
Rascal October 13, 2006 October 13, 2006 Another option: I took the suction cup off of mine and looped a zip-tie through the suction cup and around the pvc pipe for my closed loop manifold. If your tank has plastic trim with a "lip" that hangs over the tank, you could also drill a small hole through this for the zip-tie.
ReeferMan October 13, 2006 October 13, 2006 i have seen where someone took a clip and acrylic with a hinge screwed to the canopy. Fold up when not in use and fold down and feed. I dont have a picture but could make one in case someone is confused.

BB Just glue the clip to the magnet and ditch the suction cup, thus no goop to clean and fish will chase the clip as you clean the glass.
