Thanks guys. I know tile is the way to go but there are so many other items that take priority ... like setting up a tank
In my previous place the carpet got wet- not tank related but it did get wet and I need to avoid having wet moldy carpet.
For those of you who removed the carpet, how did you hold down the remaining carpet?
Thank you all for the comments I really appreciate it. I did not even think about the level concrete I will have to look into this.
I could not post from work but this is what I wrote to Matt
Yes those are eggs. How many red spot cardinals do you have?
The male should scoop them up and hold the eggs for 6-7 days
and then release larvae but not sure which strand of rotifers you
would need. This is very exciting as these guys usually die during shipment.
I hope Matt is able to grow them out.
I will be installing a large tank in the coming weeks and I need some advice. I was going to tile the basement "soon" but honestly there are many other projects that take priority so the tank will go in a carpeted area. I thought about removing the carpet that will be under and around the tank but and adding a transitional trim to keep the carpet down but it seems like that is not possible (according to the guys lowes .. something about stretching the carpet and special equipment). Then I thought about buying vinyl tile (roll) and setting it on top of the carpet but that will not look to great. The last option would be to set up the aquarium on top of the carpet which will result in a wet carpet. I'm I missing any other options? What is the least "evil" option?
My dogface puffer went a couple weeks without eating before accepting his new tank. He loved ghost shrimp... THis was when I was new to the hobby and I had him with softies and he really liked my blue mushrooms.. after that snack he took all foods offered.
My guinea fowl went a month before eating... then he took everythink offered too.
I spoke to a couple members about getting together to do a frag disc build, I don't know if anyone remembers when we got together at Scotts house to make fish food- something link that.
Did not take pictures to explain the process; its less science more art as the saying goes.
Really sorry for your loss, we experienced something similar a couple years ago and it was heart breaking. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
It would not be as good as rock in my opinion. In the past i put live rock pieces together to make it look like one big exotic structure (bonsai, caves etc), I posted a thread a while back but will post again.
I was low on disks and plugs, and I used this past weekend to make some reef disks.
End result:
I made my first batch 5 years ago and have been making my own disks ever since, I make one batch a year. Hoping to list more details later this week.
Several years ago I had a huge gigas and a 5 skunk clowns would go in and out of the clam no issues- still looking for this pic.
Now a small clam and same size clown you may run into issues to say the least.
