Hatchling (3/13)

  1. That was crazy fast. Sold to AlanM. Karl
  2. Hi Guys, I spoke to Dave Lin who gave me the ok to post here with this sale. I'd already given him several of my tanks for his school but he's not in a position to accept them anymore equipment. I tore down my last tank over a year ago and gave Dave what little livestock I had left already. My original intent was to donate the old tank at some point and upgrade to something much bigger and set everything back up, but with young kids and running my own business, my spare time is at a premium. I have finally come to terms that it is finally time to part with everything in one go. I have at least the following available: 45 Gallon AGA Tank, Black pine stand, black pine hood. 10 Gallon Tank + Hood (It doesnt fit in the stand, i had it setup as a quarantine tank) CF Lights for the 45 in 36" and 24" lengths. The bulbs are older and will need to be replaced within the next 6 months or so. Aqua C remora protein skimmer Assorted MaxiJet PowerHeads Several Hydor Koralia PowerHeads Red Sea WaveMaster Pro Assorted Foods/Supplements Test Kits, hydrometers, digital ph tester Assorted tubing, plumbing, buckets Unopened bucket of salt mix I'm sure there is more in the boxes of other stuff that I accumulated in the 5 years my tank was up. I also have about 50-65 lbs of coral/rock that is very dead and would need to be cleaned thoroughly and then reseeded but was otherwise really nice and really big. It has been outside in a large trashcan for the last year. So, $150 OBO takes everything. I'm not looking to part it out. You're going to need a truck and/or several friends with cars to get it all. If at all possible I'd like to move it all before Thanksgiving. I'm rarely on the forums anymore, so feel free to email me directly at genvmunix at gmail dot com. I'll post a followup to this message after it has sold. Also, if you're a high school student looking for a tank, let's talk. I'm willing to drastically cut that price to help someone else get started. Karl
  3. Its called "Karl cant use a tape measure properly" and 2" bulkheads != 2" overflow hose. It turns out I really needed 1.5" tubing which I found at home depot after having obtained the 2" hose and slid it directly over all the bulkhead fittings. Anyone need any 2" tubing before I send it back? I have about 10' of it. Karl
  4. I'm in the process of working through the plumbing on my new tank and am thinking of replacing the 2" flex PVC overflow pipes with 2" ID tubing made of something really flexible. I need more flex than the PVC can offer to come around from the side of the tank to the back (This is Howard's old tank which was originally designed to be viewed from 3 sides). Any suggestions on what to use and where to go look locally for the tubing? I've checked home depot/lowes online and the website makes it look like they dont carry anything like what I think I want. Also, I've been assuming that I'm just looking for something food grade or can I use other non food types of hoses? Thanks! Karl
  5. Stunning. What kind of camera are you using and how are you supporting it? Karl
  6. He misses the tank thats sitting on the floor in my other room. Karl
  7. All I see are: "We Be Ready to Rumble!! IPB Image Tools: Circular Saw, Drill, Screwdriver, Tape Measure, Square and Air Compressor (Optional) IPB Image IPB Image" With just the placeholders above and no images. Karl
  8. Is there any way to get the pictures back? Karl
  9. I'm considering ordering live rock and sand from them. Has anyone used them before? Thanks, Karl
  10. If it gets to that I'll dry out the rocks. There were some pretty feather duster colonies on the rock that I'm trying to somehow save. Karl
  11. I've got some LR in a 10 gallon tank that I'm currently trying to kill the horde of Majone anemones off of with joes juice. I took the rock out of my display and setup my QT to do the killing. I'd like to run a skimmer on the tank to help collect waste in the water while I clean up the rocks. Anyone have any suggestions? While I have that tank setup I may also cure some additional live rock in it so it would need to be able to handle that as well. Thanks, Karl
  12. I picked up a couple of the approx 4" mag floats (medium iirc) and crazy glued the 3 suction cup holder to them. I've tried crazygluing the little slide for the top mount clip but its not sturdy enough when used on a wavemaker and the small sized mag is too small for an MJ12 kicking on. The rig isnt the prettiest thing and it makes the powerheads come about an inch off the glass on the inside but I can clean my glass while the head is on and running and pods love to live in the velcro. Karl
  13. Tank looks great! Nicely done. Pic sizes are much much better as well. Karl
  14. Wow, I have some serious tank envy... Is that even curable when you have a spouse/kids/bills/etc? A lowly 45 Gallon Reef. Karl
  15. Awesome shop, well worth the hike out there. Just a word of warning to the others. If you live in Reston, ignore the mapquest directions, they sent me down the greenway to exit 8W to 50... Take 7100 or 495 -> 66 to get out there. It took me 40 mins to get there following the MQ directions w/no traffic and 20 mins to get home using 66 - 7100 with typical midday Friday traffic. Karl
