  2. Hello everyone and I hope you are enjoying the summer. I made the trip to ERC and it was a tremendous place...well worth the effort. I also made a few purchases from Jason Fox and some fish and margarita snails (I now have approx 40) from live aquaria. The algae seems to be under pretty good control with some left over for the tang. The system is cycling nicely. I have had to tweak the SW replacement as the salinity was drifting down ...added a little nozzle to the drain to slow it down a little and it seems to have done the trick. I have also added Kalk to the ATO trashcan (about ¼ teaspoon per gallon) and now I am monitoring the PH and ALK carefully to make sure it is in line with the needs of the few corals that I now have. I use the Litermeter III to drive the ATO from the basement to the sump. I'll post photos soon. I pulled this list from Reef Central to consider future purchases. If anyone here has frags of interest would you ping me? Also, are there any master SPS keepers near the Bethesda area? I would love to see your system to get ideas. 3. A few more pics ... I promise to shoot higher quality pics. Currently I have a six line wrasse and a Banghai Cardinal (will get a few more). Note the tremendous job handled by the Margarita snails..
  4. Starphire indeed purchased via Aquariumspecialty but you can get the system from just about any major supplier as the price is fixed. so far i am leak free and very happy with it.. the construction is tremendous.
  5. Thanks everyone. I haven't quite picked out the fish but I'll be careful to take my time. I plan to use the upper part of the rock for SPS and the lower for LPS and Zoas...again I'll take my time and hopefully a few folks here will be turn me on to some super frags. I was considering a trip to MrCoral .. recommendations for area suppliers? I have found Kings of Coral to be great ... but will also give BRK a shake soon.

  12. i added a few pictures showing my current configuration. i think adding the bulkheads would be cleaner ..
  13. thanks. i will have three overflows for the iwaki and mk4 .. two one inch bulkheads spaced about a foot apart just under surface and one corner overflow draining to the sump (ill have a big 150 stock tank) . the dart is hooked up to a 4 way oceanmotions.. i intend for it to be closed loop. my thinking is to plumb in (4) one inch bulkheads to accomodate the oceanmotions setup. the drain for it will be 4 inch.
  14. im adding a dart to my 180 gallon in hopes of adding sps . currently i am running 2534 gph (mk4 and 40 rxlt) with the dart at 3600 .. my total would be 6134 gph ... would this be too much ?? thanks
  15. i have read 1.025- 1.026 for corals 1.022 for fish only .
  16. thanks . what if i just used acrylic tubing instead..what are the drawbacks?
  17. i hope to add a squence dart and an oceansmotions 4way today to my 180. near Bethesda where could i find flexible pvc and the appropriate 2 and 1 inch bulkheads. thanks
