hearing lots of great advice re lights. with only reef rock in my 180 gallon .. and as I put the tank back into working order... this what i have for now: 3 x 175 watt MH 2 x 96 watt power compact ballasts (4 bulbs total) is that enough to add hard corals ?

the front of my 180 gal acrylic has very small scuffs all over due to over zealous urchins. has anyone used Novus 1 and 2 to restore ? is there any method to buff out the front pane with the water still in it ? i know wishful thinking . thanks

sorry to be dense but since my system holds over 280gal .. a skimmer rated at 125gal is enough? how do i figure out how large it should be . i would like to add more fish and perhaps some soft coral

ok ill throw this out there.. i have a 180 with some rock and three medium sized tangs.. it is connected to a 75 gallon refugium and a 30 gallon sump . i dont want to spend a bundle on a new skimmer ..any recommendations for a couple hundred bucks?

mk4 .. 17.9 gpm (1182gph).. that enough? .. of course can make the pvc pipe smaller than 4" what kinda chamber would i put in there to get the foam up and collected?

hello there. need to add a protein skimmer back to my 180 gallon connected to a 75 gallon refugium. the skimmer would be external to the sump . my question is how to add a foam fractioning chamber .. any thoughts?

i need a serious replenishment of reef janitors.. what do you recommend and is a ebay a good place to go ? the prices seem pretty reasonable vs lfs . i have bought chaetomorpha with success there already for the refugium. any caulerpa to look out for or micro algea that would also make a good addition? i found this : http://cgi.ebay.com/50-Reef-Aquarium-Snail...1QQcmdZViewItem local.. so could be good no ? for a 180 gallon are 50 enough ? i also have a 75 gallon refugium - would i put an additional batch there too? what about hermits and other critters.. i have yet to add any flora until i get the nutrients and algea back under control (serious neglect). my three large tangs are doing great however. thanks for your thoughts

ihave found interfaces to do that via usb but the software is the issue. turning things on and off is one thing but what about temperature settings ?!

really enjoy reading posts here. is anyone here using their mac with software to interface with x10s? i have an old neptune but would rather do it right from the imac. thanks

hello everyone.. i troll in here for good ideas. my wife and kids are wondering when they will be able to see the fish again. wah you dont like the coralline algea? best magnetic scraper out there for a 180 gallon acrylic tank ? or is there a better - easier way to get it off. thanks much
