  1. <font color='#0000FF'>Don't have much but here it goes- Green candy cane-1-10 polyps tulip anemones rock with yellow star polyps and red/brown palythoas bright orange zoanthids pompom xenia toadstool leather striped mushrooms will trade for anything interesting (except capnella) Also have neon green sinularia cabbage leather Tom
  2. Your percs will love any BTA, and roses are so inexpensive now compared to the past I would go with one of them. They are quite hardy (I know more than one wamas member has ended up with 2 or more anemones after they got too close to a powerhead!) Tom
  3. I have 45lbs of LR that has only been curing for a week and the ammonia is still quite high. Do I need to wait til the levels are near 0 to add the clean up crew or are they hardy enough to add now, maybe help with curing process?? Tom
  4. Red planaria are little rust colored non parasitic flatworms that can multiply extremely fast.
  5. Howard, I got a canary wrasse a month or 2 ago for my 55g to help with a planaria outbreak. At first, my skunk psuedochromis was harassing the s@#$ out of him but my yellow tang started defending the wrasse. My wife says it's some bright yellow homey thing. :D Anyway, this tiny wrasse now rules the roost! Tom
  6. Thought I'd also try to get some input on a tentative fish list for the 90. I was thinking a pair of percs, a heniochus, flame hawk, tang (hepatus?) maybe a couple neon gobies. Any input is appreciated. Thanks, Tom
  7. Finally have my 90 running and will be adding 45 more lbs of liverock Friday. I wanted to get some input on a clean up crew. I was thinking something like 50 nassarius, 50 cerith, 20 turbos, 20 scarlet leg hermits, a couple peppermint shrimp & maybe a brittle star. Thanks, Tom
  8. You get free shipping on any cleanup crew order over $60 on eTropicals, just a thought
  9. Awesome thread, wish I lived closer so I could get involved in the DIY parties:) If you somehow end up with an extra for sale, LMK. Tom
  10. I am looking for a skimmer for a 90g. I found an AquaC EV90 for $150 on RC and wondered if anybody had any input or better choice? My other choice was to wait til H2O aquatics has another sale on Euroreef blems and get a ES5-3? Tom
  11. Classy guy, I think I bought a used car from dis guys brudda once.
  12. I know this is probably too late but if there is 1/2 bag left over...I'll bring a bucket to the workshop just in case.
  13. Doug, If it is an AGA and the aquarium center doesn't have the brace you can have AGA send you one. They sent me one for a 55g for less than $10 shipped!! Should be pretty easy too if you can still drain your tank, otherwise you drain 1/3 tank and it gets a little hairy:D
  14. Awesome info guys. Milky white residue...that my bulb! Rich, I did buy the bulb at the spring meeting but didn't get around to building a canopy and installing them until the beginning of July! Thanks Doug, Thanks Rich:)
  15. The first thing I did was swap the bulb. It's definitely the bulb. Since it is a practically new bulb, I was just looking for any reason it could have died so soon. I bought it from AquariaUSA, do you think it's worth contacting them or XM?
  16. 2 months ago I made the switch from PC's to MH. Today I find one of my XM 250's (10K)has burnt out. Needless to say I'm kinda p@##%$ off. 2 months of use and not even up to a full photoperiod!!(only 7 hrs a day). Is it just a "bad bulb" or could there be a problem with the ballasts? Both bulbs have "ash" inside at the base. I'm guessing that is normal but don't know as these are my first :( Any input would be appreciated. Thanks Tom
  17. In Baencsh's Marine Atlas on page 101 there is a 'ca reactor' that consists of introducing CO2 prior to a canister filter that has crushed dolomite in it. Am I missing something. Doesn't the CO2 + H20 have to recirculate and be metred out. Would this require a 'pH controller'? Would love any input if anyone has seen this plan. Thanks Tom
  18. I think a coelacanth would be a safe bet.
  19. I'm jealous. Beaches were great but the interior was even better (cloudforests, arenal etc). We hiked to 60 ft. waterfalls with crystal clear pool and were the only people there:D I will get back to you with names (guess that would help) .Wildlife was awesome pretty much everywere and lack of crowds was great. As Scott says, knowing spanish is a very big plus tom Manuel Antonio & Santa Rosa national park were great. If at all possible, I would recomend renting a 4 wheel drive vehicle instead of busses. Spend a couple nights in the interior and a couple on the pacific coast. The only true reef is on the Carribean side but from what I hear is heavily damaged from runoff.
  20. My vote is with Oceanic (quick dissolution,no residue, happy tank etc) . Also don't think ORA would use/endorse them if they had any problems with consistency etc. tom
  21. sweet!!!!! Where did you find your yellow striped cardinals. I can't seem to find them anywhere? Tom
  22. Thanks everybody. It will be strange (but great) to deliver frags this visit instead of leaving with some. I'm also glad he has saturated his local clown market for the time being :D Tom
  23. I will have maroon clowns at the end of July when I visit my brother who breeds them. Most will be about 8 months old-1 to 2 inches. LMK if you still haven't had any luck. Tom
  24. I don't have all the specifics but I'm thinking he is probably lucky it hasn't happen before. He had a greenwater gravity drip going into a tank of 'several hundred' fry and rotifers that 'stopped'. I think I'll get him a dosing pump for xmas. Anyway, the rotifers stopped reproducing and were quickly devoured leaving the fry to starve and die:( For some reason he had a return on the other tank that went fairly deep (?) that back siphoned and overflowed the sump due to a power outage. I'm not clear why it didn't refill or why the power was out so long (he was more worried about the truck engine when I talked to him) but end result was lots o' mortality, all sps's croaked. On a lighter note I can bring back about 20 eight month old m. clowns & 10 banggai in July:) tom
