  1. Ben is correct in considering the species of the animal. How will you maintain temperature control year round?
  2. This is Dave Powell's dream come true! Read his book, A Fascination for Fish, very interesting (thank you, Glenn!) . I definitely recommend him as a speaker for MACNA. The record for maintaining one in captivity is 16 days and this one only went in yesterday........
  3. You guys ARE the best! Informative and always on the cutting edge!
  4. I would like one Mens faded blue MFB medium. (shhhhhhh it's for his birthday. Luckily Bob doesn't have time to go on-line much now!) Tamie

  6. The other store in Annandasle is Superpets (sp). It is behind the Popeyes chicken. They have some pretty good stuff.
  7. Does anyone know what the gorgonian is on the homepage? What does it eat? Does anyone have one? What kind of light? Tamie
  8. You could also go by the National Zoo's Invertebrate Exhibit. The Zoo is free, Metro friendly, and the Invertebrate Exhibit has a lot of marine exhibits. Giant Pacific octopus, Pacific coldwater tank, coral tank, lobsters, Nautilus, etc. Amazonia is nice also for large fresh water tanks.
  9. Please translate: "HTH someone G"
  10. Mike (ousnakebyte) just got the blender. It is a pretty sturdy, industrial contraption that weighs about 80 pounds (Mike's estimate as he has to carry it to the Metro).
  11. We have 2 dessets, 2 pies and cupcakes. How about a yummy side dish (veggie platter, hummus and pita?) and some more drinks?
  12. Looks like we have a key lime pie, a "pie", "a dessert", and cupcakes. So, I think another dessert would be marvy!
  13. Scott, Howzabout hummus and pita or baked beans?
  14. Steve, was that enough rock fish? Should I bring more? We have a REAL industrial type blender at the Zoo that we may be able to use (if dear sweet ousnakebyte wants to run down to invertebrates to get it?!?!). Call me if you can, Mike.
  15. Looks like a super fun party is shaping up! So far we have: Nathan-Hot dogs Michael G.-green salad Michael H.-(famous)queso and chips Luyke-pie Steve-key lime pie Ken-dessert Robert-soda Tamie and Bob-cupcakes and iced tea Maybe Dave and Mike R. who were undecided could bring some sort of side dishes? Beans or salad-type dishes? Feel free to PM me! Tamie
  16. Look on the General Discussion section to sign up to bring yummy desserts and side dishes along with your grillables! Don't forget to bring your families and your swim suits.
  17. The July 10 tour is right around the corner! And to top off a fun tour of Craig and Steve's tanks, we will be concluding with a pool party at Steve's house! Go to the General Discussion section to sign up to bring some yummy side dishes or desserts. Bring something to throw on the grill and bathing suits for the entire family.
  18. I'll bring the white (Rock) fish, shrimp, some DT's and lemon to remove the odor from our hands! I'll also bring some baggies. Tamie
  19. I can bring the shrimp and the white (Rock) fish and the DT's! Tamie
  20. Oh yea, it is also a filter food making party! People who would like to contribute ingredients and bring home some food for their tanks are more than welcome! Look for the recipe to be posted soon. The pool party is the second half of the tank tour that day. Craig's tank first and then Steve's tour/pool party.
  21. Go to Pool Party Planning! to RSVP and start planning for the Pool Party at Steve's house on July 10!
  22. And I'll bring a few chairs!
  23. Alright everyone! Steve has graciously offered his place for a pool party next Saturday, July 10! He is supplying the grill, plates, napkins, cups, and utensils (a few chairs). Bring your own grillables. We'd also like to have people bring a side dish, dessert or drinks. If we could start a thread here with an idea of who is coming and what you are bringing it will make this party a real success! I'll start with: cupcakes and some fruity iced tea! Tamie
  24. And it was fun to hear Bruce tell the little "secret" stories behind some of the fish names! What a great group of speakers, and what really amazed me was the great group of attendees that pitched in. Thank you everyone who brought yummy desserts and salads, helped physically set up and move the tables, ran out for more food (Sunny! Oh, Happy Anniversary, by the way!) and who participated in the organization of the lunch delivery and ticket checks (Yes, you Tree and Henry!). It was so nice to continually hear, "is there anything I can do to help?" And Steve, you, Michael, Glenn, Craig, Scott and Nathan are absolutely amazing! I cannot believe the work that you guys did in such a short period of time. I don't believe that there was a stone left unturned. You all deserve our gratitude for providing a very stimulating day not only for the ticket holders but for the speakers. I know that Bruce was happy to see Daphne and that they began their friendship about 25 years ago. The speakers recognized and expressed appreciation of how well the symposium was organized. This really sets groundwork for MACNA next year. Tamie and Bob
