  1. I'm going to work on the stand tonight, trying to get that finished so I can prep everything else for once the glass arrives. I was thinking about putting a channel along each side of the tank, wide enough to support up to the 1" tubing necessary for the overflow. This might seem like overkill, but it would give me the flexibility to add, subtract, move, etc, any of my tubing for this setup as I need to. All tubing is going to be on the sides, I don't want to mount anything directly on the back glass here. I'd likely brace directly underneath the tank for some extra support, although I doubt it will need it. Thoughts?
  2. If I hadn’t already bought all the glass stuff, I probably would consider it. I at least want to try out this clear setup and see how it looks / does. Yeah, I think if I had gone with a bigger one, I would likely want to drill it. This size should be perfect for what I’m going for. I’ve done it plenty in the past with planted tanks, it honestly isn’t super difficult to take off and clean once or twice a week. I am cleaning the pipes on my current set about that much.
  3. It's here! Ultum Nature Systems really makes a killer looking tank, I'm stoked to get things switched over to this. I need to finish up the stand ASAP, and hoping my glassware comes in soon.
  4. Yeah, I honestly was pretty torn between drilling this one and doing the glass pipes, as I already have a 400GPH Fiji overflow I could use... but I think I'm going to try this out and see how things go, worst case I can always swap tanks back temporarily and drill it. It's not like I'm moving a lot of content around with only 6-9 gallons! And you should do it, this will be my first one, but I have seen them in person and they look amazing. Thank you! I honestly have to saw that your tank inspired me to want the 75S, that aquascape is just great. It will probably be 6 months minimum before I start making moves on that next build.
  5. Hah, I still plan on going with a second tank in the nearish future... I want to attempt to do a second entirely invisible build, like I did with an ADA 30C way back in the day: https://www.nano-reef.com/forums/topic/207627-schgs-ada-30c-reef/ I actually want to do either a UNS 75s or 90l with this same idea, so its possible I may want the top!

The idea that inspired this change was to attempt to create an entirely clean setup, featuring only glass and inhabitants, but the cube was not an ideal shape to make this work how I wanted. The current setup (a bit messy): As you can see, I currently have glass lily pipes for my inflow and outflow to the canister filter I am using, which also connects to a pre-filter and in-line heater. This did not allow me to hide my auto top off, and I still needed more flow so a powerhead also had to be visible in the tank itself. I found a steal on a small sump from @marylynn7 and ended up picking that up, also purchasing a VIV glass overflow online, and ordered the UNS 45u. The idea is to have the glass overflow run to the sump and back, and then set up a closed loop using a separate pump and glass lily pipes, keeping all equipment inside the tank glass only. My currrent setup won't fit the sump, so I snagged a small cabinet off Facebook marketplace, and will be refinishing it / prepping it for plumbing this weekend. The tank, plumbing, and glasswork should all be here within the next two weeks, so hopefully things will transition over soon. Crappy photo of the current inhabitants:
  7. Oof, I love this setup! I am debating a UNS 90L or 75S for my next iteration of this build, they really are gorgeous.
  8. Hi all! I was a member here a few years back, and have always done tanks in the 10-40 gallon range, but decided to pick the hobby back up with a 6 gallon frameless cube to just scratch the itch a bit again. I'm located in Columbia, and just finished up the cycle last week, so should be able to start giving real updates soon. I know people are from all over, but give me a wave if you are closer to Columbia and I'm happy to connect! Also looking to start purchasing some frags to get things going. Picture of my other hobby, for anyone into the car scene.
  9. Oh man, things are looking great! I might have to come buy some frags from you again, since I decided to get back into the hobby! Funny thing is that I was actually thinking about your homemade Kombucha recently before I decided to take the plunge again, it must have just planted the seed in my mind to start another reef!
  10. Honestly I had a lot going on at the time, and kind of just dropped the hobby all of a sudden..... that being said, I just decided to start up another pico (rimless 3 gallon), and will be making a thread here / rejoining WAMAS soon. Sorry to disappoint with this one, but I still have the head if anyone wants to clean it out and take it over!
  11. I just appreciate the thought, honestly! I will be posting some updates soon, but I glued a bunch of stuff down. I'm going to start cleaning up the sandbed a bit more as well.
  12. Hah, i love that you feel this way! I'll have to have you come check it out once it gets a little more filled. I haven't taken any recent shots since I have been traveling, but there are about 6 kinds of zoas in there now, and a bunch of algae. I ended up switching to an air pump instead of the powerhead since it blocked too much light, but I realized that was the only thing keeping it warm. I will have to buy a temp controller and throw a heater in there, then I should be good to go!
  13. Awe, this makes me miss having them.
  14. I feel like I already have these, they just aren't as defined... I probably could have sponsored this myself before I fragged this off a bit.
  15. Thanks all! I don't think my tank is TOTM worthy (yet), but I wouldn't say no to that gift card Current FTS, and two more pictures:
  16. I was messing with my buddies old Nikon with a macro lens, here are some of the shots. For an almost 10 year old camera, it is still better than my NX3000....I really need to dump this thing. Bad picture, but one of my recent pickups was orange Setosa: Lunar Eclipse zoas: Another terrible picture, but I think it is Setting Sun Montipora? Green Psammocora: I did grab more, but wasn't able to get photos of them yet. Now just some fun stuff. Enjoy!
  17. darn Isaac, that would be awesome! I don't need too much of anything, I have 6 months for this thing to grow for the contest! Are we still meeting Sunday? While I normally would agree, my rock is a ton of small rocks together, so I would be able to have some control over it. I really miss having Xenia, as I haven't had it for years and don't trust it in my main display. That is a good idea too, I have never actually owned any. I'll have to see who has some cheap.
  18. Yeah I would definitely do green. I have a buddy who offered a small frag. And that is very true! Although it is up in my office in the attic, so people won't often be seeing it in person hahah.
  19. Well I guess, it doesn’t matter, it looks like the purple Sakura won, but I would like to officially change my vote to the fairy tale. They are both very pretty, but I like the fairy tale more overall.
  20. I still like them, and they will likely look good under my lighting, but I'm still torn between the Fairy Tales and these.
  21. Aren’t those fire and ice? I thought snitches had a red ring around the mouth? Edit: I guess they are close, I’m seeing different things in different pictures from googling. I’ll vote soon.
  22. Thank you! I am using a Samsung NX3000 with an adapter to use my Canon lenses. I mostly use a 18-55mm and a Canon 50mm 1.8. I am looking to update my camera soon though, I just need a bit more adaptability.
