One fish

Is there anything I can do to save the babies? Does anyone know the survival rate for them? He has not eaten in 4 or 5 days. Does anyone have any experience raising the babies? Thanks!

I was in MD this afternoon and stopped by Tropical Lagoon Aquariums to buy a fish. I usually go to LFS like these and pay a bit extra for a fish instead of buying from Petco. Just as I was checking out I overheard the owner telling another customer that all tanks have ich. He said if the fish are healthy the tank and fish just won't show signs. I was under the impression that if you quarantine you can keep your tank free of ich. I am now concerned about adding this fish to my tank. Was his information accurate? I am now confused from what I have heard in the past.

I had a fifteen gallon that I started with live sand and life rock that I got from about three different people a few years ago. I had pineapple sponges, little feather dusters, tons of pods, and other cool little animal life. I would just sit in front of my tank and use a magnifying glass to look at the diversity for hours. This time I started with dry sand and dry rock and after a year the tank is not as fun for me. I already have enough rock in my display, should I buy some live rock and place it in my sump? Thanks for any suggestions.

Tank is about 42 gallons, 30 long by 18x18. I'm thinking maybe mixed with some easy to keep SPS.

Any opinions/help would be greatly appreciated. I have been on the fence for about 4 weeks now. If you had a budget of $700 dollars, while still trying to save money... What LED would you buy? Looking to upgrade my LED's and have been looking at either the... XR15 Gen 3's (on sale at BRS, I will save about $160 dollars. Both come out to $640.) XR15 Gen 4's ($800, a bit over my budget not including the hanging kit) Kessil ap700 (my buddy has a used one and is selling it for $700 dollars and I love the kessil shimmer but am worried about the poor reviews. I haven't owned a light other than kessil.) If you had to choose between one of the three, what would you get? Thanks a lot.

Hello Wamas. I just upgraded my driver to the Quiet Drive and it looks like my old power supply does not fit in the new quiet drive. Has anyone found a cheaper alternative than the $50 dollar supply from Ecotech?

Hi wamas. I just hard plummed my sump and have a small leak above a 45 degree elbow. I guess when I glued the part I did not turn it enough or did not apply enough glue. Does anyone know how to fix this without redoing the whole section? When I turn on the pump it accumulates drops on top of the 45 degree. Would running a small thing of super glue around the rim work? Thanks.

Thank you for the replies everyone. I have heard of a lot of people using the Caribsea special grade. The Tropic Eden Mini Flakes have a grain size of 2mm, the same as special grade, so I think I might go with the Mini Flakes. Just hope I can get over the aesthetics of not having sugar fine white sand that I am use to.

I appreciate that. I am meeting up with someone tomorrow night to look at the one size smaller than the grand, the reefflakes aragonite sand. The site states a 3.0mm grain. Will that be ok for a high flow tank?

I am in the process of setting up a 42 gallon tank. I have had two tanks in the past with Bahama Oolite from Caribsea and I absolutely loved the look of the white sand. I tried a tank with Fiji Pink (one step darker but bigger grain size) and did not like the color. The problem is I want to start keeping SPS. My frogspawn and other LPS are huge in my 20 gallon with the Oolite but there is little flow. I see a lot of people recommending Reef Flakes. What are Reef Flakes? Are people referring to the Aragonite Reef Flakes or the Grand Select. Does anyone know if the color difference between Reef flakes and Fiji Pink or if it is comparable? I was also recomented this for white sand. I think the link posted above has used "Reef Safe" as their company name, legally making it seem like they are claiming that it really is reef safe. AlanM very true. Here is a review from someone who bought it on Amazon. "Read the article from PADI, the reputable Professional Association of Diving Instructors: [...] They list some ingredients that are harmful for coral reefs: 1) oxybenzone 2) butylparaben 3) octinoxate 4) 4-methylbenzylidine camphor This product contains both oxybenzone and octinoxate. The makers of this deceptive product should be ashamed of themselves for branding a product as reef safe when it's the exact opposite."

I am thinking about buying a new tank and was wondering if anyone makes or knows of anyone that could build a custom stand for me.

I ordered the BRS media reactor during this weeks group buy and I have heard that adding too much GFO will crash a tank. I currently have 1 TSP mixed with half a cup of carbon in my sump, and that has been in for about 2 weeks. When I get my Mini reactor in, How much should I be adding a week? Does anyone have advice on starting GFO? Thanks a lot!

I have thought about contacting an acrylic guy from incredible corals, he gave me a card last time I was there. I do not think I am picky about the type of material. Colored acrylic rack would look cool. If you could send a picture that would be great. Would you consider making a rack for me?

Thanks guys. Yeah, I know egg crate will work but I was just looking for something more permanent and attractive. I met someone about a year ago that made custom frag racks but I lost his information. Just thought I would try here again.

Hi Wamas. Not sure it this is even possible but I am wondering if anyone could make a custom shaped frag rack for my tank. I would like it to be this shape. Hopefully you can see it but just rectangle with a 4x2in square cut out. Thanks!
