  1. And David, yes it's exciting but scary too! Big jump from my little biocube. That's why I don't want to rush it.
  2. Hmm I think it's right over a bedroom in the basement. Not sure the house jacks would look so hot in the spare bedroom...lol...
  3. Thanks Brian! Not sure I'll make it out your way anytime soon but I appreciate the offer. Haywood - a 180 reef would be awesome! I do love my corals. :-) Marisa - good idea on painting the back against the windows. The spot I have in mind would be in the kids playroom/sunroom. Plus we have an open view to it through an open bar from our kitchen sink. Excellent viewing potential! All - how do I go about figuring out if a certain spot in the house could handle the weight of a 180 or 120?
  4. Very nice tank!! I can see how it would be nice to not have to worry about all the crazy lights. I do like the Picasso trigger a lot. They seem to have so much character.
  5. Also what are thoughts on the tank backing to windows? I could close the blinds behind it or leave them open for natural light. Bad? Good? I was thinking the side of our sun room/playroom might work. All windows though on three sides.
  6. That's two votes for the 180, thanks for chiming in! That is a great deal on that one you linked. I'm not sure I'm ready to buy quite yet. Have to figure out the wall space first. We have a lot of windows and not as much plain wall space.
  7. I think I'll have to rearrange no matter what although 4 ft is definitely an easier fit. I figured it would need to be pretty big though. I may need some help figuring out what spots in my house can handle the load. I'd like to keep it on my main level for better viewing/maintenance. Basement has plenty of room but I feel like I wouldn't see it all the time like my Biocube which is in the center of the house between the kitchen and living room. Thanks!!
  8. Hello! I'm starting to consider getting a larger tank. I have a 29 Biocube and love it. But I would really like to have triggerfish and tangs and then some other complementary fish. Questions: what is the minimum size tank would I need to go to? Would it be best as a FOWLR? I enjoy LPS a lot in my Biocube. I also enjoy the AIO aspect of the Biocube. Any thoughts on the larger IM or Red Sea AIOs? This is nothing I'm rushing into, just starting the research and tank size will help me focus on moving forward (and so I can watch for great deals here on WAMAS). Thanks!
  9. +1 love it! You can also slice off thin slivers and put it between your magnetic glass cleaner and the glass if you want to (I do this sometimes in my biocube) or just use it by hand.
  10. Yes the birdsnest is my only SPS and just got that. I have two little girls and we all enjoy the movement of the LPS. :-)
  11. Thanks John! It's been up a year. Woohoo!
  12. Thanks! Mostly they do except my torch can get grumpy and start stinging things around him. The zoas have finally gotten used to the torch but had to sell off some hammers that were too crowded next to it. Otherwise everything is fairly separated.
  13. Decluttered a little and did some new aquascaping. I'll try and take a new video soon. Still loving my biocube. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
  14. Oh this was a really old post that Haywood replied to. I'm all set now with my fuge. But thank you!!!
  15. Awesome. Thanks Chuck! Yep looks like it's ok. Do you think it's growing better now if it's starting to get the multiple tips?
  16. Thanks! I just wasn't sure because I've had this one for about 6 months and this is the first time it's developed these "octo" heads on the tentacle tips.
  17. So one of my frogspawns seems to be getting multiple tips on the end of each tentacle. It just started doing this when I moved it up higher and also turned up my lights a tiny bit (been gradually increasing them after I installed my LED upgrade in my biocube many months ago). So my question is, is this a good thing or bad thing? Is this a happy coral or do I need to move it or turn the lights back down again? Thanks!
  18. I have a McCoskers Flasher wrasse and he is awesome. Great fun to watch, peaceful with his tank mates and corals, and a great eater. Very very happy with him. Wish I could find him a lady friend but I never see females listed anywhere.
  19. replied, see you soon!
  20. Thanks! I'm using crushed coral but I wish I had regular sand (nothing wrong with the crushed coral, I just like the look of the sand better). Considering how I might change my substrate but nervous about screwing up the tank. I have the inTank media basket in the back middle chamber with filter floss on top, purigen in the middle and the chemi pure elite on the bottom. Next to that I have some live rock rubble and a small ball of chaeto on top of that with a nano fuge light that goes on at night. I took out the sponge between the middle chamber and chamber 3. Then I swapped out the return for an MJ-900 which is super quiet and doing great. I'm pretty close to Gainesville (just down 234 off Hoadly Rd close to Woodbridge) if you want to come by sometime and compare notes. Good luck!
  21. Marine Scene has the combo pack with PE Mysis and Petland has had it before too.
  22. I installed the Steve's LED kit. Still need to install the dimmer but loving the lights so far.
