So sorry. Hope everything will be ok. My tank is in the living room with a bunch of palys, and I have a 1 yr old. How does paly toxin go airborne? I never knew that was even possible. How does one avoid this?

I think some old ones just get twisted after a while and drop? Should I be concerned or is this normal? Otherwise it looks big and healthy as ever, easily 10 inches across. It recently split and I've got a little one now too, and I also fairly recently did a water change and adj my lighting schedule to be automatic. All my params are within ideal range except for alk and pH (about 8.0p right now) which I am slowly bringing both up with 2-part. All sps and lps looking good, good pe. An anemone crab has hosted in it for the past 3 months, clowns still won't host it but come close. Any thoughts/advice?

I wrapped it around over 10 wraps and that worked well.

Teflon tape is very thin. I only did about 3-4 wraps and my bulkhead had a slow leak. I rewrapped it like 10+ times and it was good after that.

The angel only picks on my 2 poci's for the most part. They seem to be doing OK, get more PE in the middle of the night. Would a trapezia poci/acropora crab help keep the flame angel away? Anyone have any luck with a trapezia crab?

I also have a large cuc from reef cleaners, which seems to do a great job keeping things in check. But only the little snails seem to eat the slime and only a little. I also spot placed handfuls of the little dwarf ceriths on problem spots.

I recently had some similar purple slime that didn't want go away. I did 3.5 days of darkness, cut back on the amount I feed, changed out a bag of carbon and gfo, and manually scrubbed any bits I could find with a tooth brush every night. It hasn't been back since and its been 3-4 weeks.

Wow cool baby shrimp. So my shrimp only has half as many eggs today. I don't think any hatched. I have a feeling she ate them herself. She was poking at them last night and now they are half gone.

I read the eggs stay with the shrimp until they hatch. Anyone know if that's true? Would be cool to see some baby shrimp. Either way, I guess they are still fish food haha.

Had it for 4 months. Maybe it was just storing them. The eggs look yellow. They are not going to last long with the fish in my tank. Any hope of moving them to my sump once they are laid? Anyone successfully raise baby cleaners? Either way, pretty cool since its my first saltwater tank.

I've had my cleaner shrimp for about 4 months now and it def has eggs. Its the only cleaner shrimp I have, I also have a fire shrimp. So now what? Free fish food? Are they asexual or do they just regularly lay unfertilized eggs? I'll try to get a better pic, but looks just like the ones in google image search.

I like the fish to much to remove him. Good idea with the algae sheet, I'll try that. I start to get pe again when he is busy eating and then full. He just nips, but I don't think at the tips, maybe more the sides? I don't see any lost flesh, but not sure what to look for I guess. The corals look fine just the polyps are hiding most the time. They all come back out if he leaves them alone for a while.

I got a flame angel to my 65 gal about 2 weeks ago. When I first added him he was nipping everything, rocks, ZOA's, LPS, SPS. He seems to be settling down some or most corals are just learning to deal with it. Only a purple digi and a pink pocci seem to still be affected. They keep their polyps closed up most to time, all the other sps stays extended, even my yellow pocci, birdsnest and mili have good PE. Anyone have any advice? Will sps be OK and still grow even if the polps have to hide most the time? Will the flame angel lose interest? Should I surround those frags with corals he doesn't prefer to nip? Should I feed more often vs once a day, to give the pocci and digi more of a break? What have other ppl done or experienced? Thanks!

Noticed the same thing with mine. It seems to be at 75-80% and its about 4 months old. Used to blow a little sand in else mode, not anymore. I Haven't cleaned it, guess I should soon.

So my acan just ate a small snail. Will he just spit out the shell later? Totally swallowed it, I can still see the cone outline. Anyone else's eat anything weird like that?

I think pocci is really hardy. Mine seem to be even hardier than my softies, except for those pink and gold payls I have.

Mine didn't settle down until he found a nice cave, he comes all the way out most of the time, looks like a dinner plate (stretches like 6+ in from the base), then retracts later in the day, I guess after getting enough light.

Hmm, I have about same set up, 65 with 20 gal sump. I got a rbta when my tank was 3 months old. He moved around like crazy for a few weeks. Then I got a porcelain crab and he has stayed put ever since. I've seen the crab feed him with his little hind legs and clean him with his claws. I only feed him half a silver side a month or longer. He will spit out a whole one. I have evergrow leds I run at 60ish blue, 48 white, but I'm slowly increasing them.

Cool, I like all the weird little life you get in saltwater tanks, makes FW seem so boring. Was just wondering what other ppl thought of them. How big is big enough to warrant a toilet flushing?

Why do some people not like them then?

I just saw a bristle/fire worm pop out from under a rock and down a big piece of hermit crab poo. I like them, any reason not to like them?

Saw candy canes eating a dead hermit crab this morning. Could have been a recent molt maybe.
