  1. Good suggestions. I'm going to give it a try. It's going to be a case by case prescription. Some are easy to get to and some are in cracks and such. The ones I am a most concerned about are huge green ones spreading across the top of a flat spot I want to use. Zoas really aren't my thing, so I don't get into the names, but I want to say they are called Incredible Hulks? They are tall (1.5") and take up a bunch of room that would be nice for some new SPS frags I have. I have not interest in loosing a high end SPS frag to a zoa..... Wil - the ones I have issues with are randos. They don't form a mat like the others.
  2. I just tried the Tunze Coral Gum. It is awesome. Sets in a couple of minutes. Very cool.
  3. A lot of different ones. I did some trading a while back and ended up with a bunch. I saw your battle. A couple of years ago. Mine aren't as invasive. I just have a few randos I don't want.
  4. I think I'm going to do some baseline measurements with socks and then take them out to see how things change over the following months. I'll have to figure out the bubble control since I hate micro bubbles in my tank.
  5. +1 I've killed everyone I have ever owned and that was without pesticide!! I've only tried twice but that's not good odds. I dip everything else including smooth skin corals.
  6. Anybody have a tried and true method for killing select targeted Zoas? I have some spreading to areas I don't want them in. Strangely they are spreading/growing in high light areas with low nutrients. They obviously didn't get the memo... I'm hoping some solution in a syringe so I can have sniper accuracy. I know some of you on Wamas are very good at killing Zoas....[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
  7. Support?...hahah......sometimes I feel like I pay all of their utilities, mortgage, and retirement plans.....LOL
  8. Just thought I would pass that along.....
  9. Nice man! Now he is going to learn to beg. Pretty cool.
  10. That looks very very nice and clean lines. Good job!!
  11. Well that's good info to know.
  12. He's just teasing. They are sock filters that you plumb your overflow into. They are typically in your sump. Similar to the pic below.
  13. My skimmer is off my manifold in its own compartment.
  14. Thanks for the info. My plan WAS similar to yours. I was thinking about put a powerhead in the sump and taking off the socks. Sounds like it didn't work. Good idea though. Why go back to socks? Just curious.
  15. Just curious who has stopped using their sump filter socks. I've talked to a couple of people here on Wamas that have decided to stop using them and had good results. Depending on how frequently you switch them out, I would assume there would be a nutrient increase. I've used them for a long time, but like to evolve with the times. I don't like the fact that the socks filter out coral food, but I want to hear some "case studies" of people who had good luck. The other thought it to just go to mesh socks. This would help with micro bubbles, but let the small stuff through. I'd be interested to hear what you have tried and how it worked.
  16. A note on 2-part epoxy. I have gotten so many frags that had 2-part not fully mixed up and they come apart months down the road. Just a reminder that when you are "kneading" the 2-part together, be sure you knead it until it is one solid color. No streaks. The 2 parts need to be fully mixed together in order to harden. It's a pain, but if you don't mix it well, it's just basically waterproof Play-doh and comes apart with a little pressure.
  17. That's what I have been using for a while. It's good stuff.
  18. I guess I need to try some other glues. Sounds like others are having good luck. Thanks for all the input so far.
  19. My real name is Ben. DCReefer would like to glue my trap shut. He ate too much glue in elementary school. Back on topic.
  20. It's better than gluing your finger to a frag plug. Done that a few times....
  21. Ha..ha...ha. Remind me to choke you next time I see you. [emoji23][emoji23]
  22. I've been using the superglue and 2-part epoxy puddy for years, but I see some products I haven't tried before like the Tunze's Coral Gum and IC-Gel Insta Cure. It made me curious what everyone uses.
