  1. yeah $50 for IO is not that good of a price if it's Reef Crystals that's a fair price, check with Richard at Exotic Reef Creations, he might have some, I usually pay around $50 for RC, but if you have some already and can wait doing a group buy will save you money
  2. I think she's building a stand, so hopefully the 40B will be ok. I had a 40B but I couldnt get it to fit under the stand so I had to go with a 29 gal from petoc instead. +1 on drilling the tank, I did not do that when setting up my 90 and I regret it, I wonder how much further along I would have been if I would have joined WAMAS 18 months ago lol.
  3. Thanks, I may have to look into other options, I am just very impressed with the quality and price of the Jebao pumps so far,I was hoping I could just buy another one.
  4. Does anyone know if you can use the Jebao DC pumps externally? I would like to switch one out with my ATMAN Ph-3000, which works fine but is kinda noisy, I googled them and I didn't get any clear answers, a lot of people were buying them to try it and never updated. Thanks guys, I was thinking of getting the DC3000, i'm sure that will be more than enough
  5. also take not he managed to wedge his 55 under there, also another advantage to DIY over buying a stand, do I sound bitter? I assure you i'm not at all lol.
  6. I've read good things about rapid LED, but I would think you could pick up some evergrows and save money. what are you trying to do with the 40B's ? frag tanks?
  7. Drywall is made of Gypsum/Lime, which I think has a relatively high alkalinity, I used to be a Construction Engineer, so proud I got to use my useless knowledge lol. it's probably not great for the tank but they pull it out of the ocean so I guess it cant be that bad
  8. Absolutely, if your going to make a mess or break something, you should always do it at a friends house.
  9. It cost's about the same to drill a tank as it does to buy all the parts to do the DIY overflow I think, I was just too scared, good luck
  10. oh yeah and P.S, I love my DIY overflow, but if I could do it again, I would just drill the tank
  11. I have one of these on my 90, it's a little noisier than I would like but it does the Job, I used a sump and Canister filter on my 40B, mainly because I had it lying around and wanted the UV sterilizer, it got to be a pain to clean, I cant remember the model # but it was the sun sun rated for 125gph, it's a great canister filter but if you have the ability to add a sump I would reccoment that. I ended up giving my canister filter to a friend of mine who has it running into the back chamber of his 29 Bio cube, he swears up and down that Canisters are better than sumps, but I have to disagree. if your set on getting a Canister filter I can tell you from experience that the sun sun works great and is virtually silent, never had issues with it at all, and it's still running 18 months later on someone elses aquarium. however I have to agree with the majority on this one that a sump is the way to go. petco often have $ ger gallon sales, I bought a 30 gal, which was the biggest one I could fit in my stand and got glass cut at HD, it's only 1/8" glass but I just siliconed 2 pieces together on the parts that hold water, the baffles are just 1/8" glass and I have had no issues over a year. I think for the plumbing, Tank/sump and baffles it cost around $50 - $60 bucks to set up and I just hooked up a Jebao DC 6000 for a return at it works great, probably a little too well as I only have it on speed 2 or 3 out of 5, you could probably get away with a smaller pump. 1500gph is too much flow, who knew lol.
  12. lol, I had 2 Urchins before, they never stole my coral but they constantly knocked them over, I gave them to a friend, he was so happy and greatful for about 2 weeks, then he was pissed at me
  13. the D2040's are the same as the It2040's the D's have dimmers with no timers, I have the D2040's I wish I could have spent the extra $ for the IT's but it wasn't in my budget, I love my lights and after 2+ weeks I could already see better growth at less than 50% brightness. I think the It's are fully programable, and you can gradually raise/lower the brightness throughout the day, i'm sure someone that has them will chime in. I know YHsublime has 2 it 2080's for sale, he's a cool dude. I think the 2060's are 24" and the 2080's are 36" but dont quote me on that. I have 2 x D2040's 18" above the water on my 90 gal and it's plenty of light
  14. All your Coral looks good, I think you just have to give it time, I think it will look cool
  15. look man I cant wait 4 months, I hope it turns out to be the most beautiful coral you have ever seen, as long as you end up eating a worm, so can we just fast forward?
  16. I guess you can name it after yourself and sell it as some exotic piece.
  17. and the winner is ^ THIS GUY!!! classic, that's something I would say
  18. I use the Hydor's, am considering switching to the Jebao WP's, they are the same price as the Koralia but I think they are supposed to compete with the vortech, cannot speak from experience yet, but plan on trying them out, I am very happy with the Koralia, they are super quiet, no vibration and dont make that horrible grinding sound when you 1st turn them on like other circulators I have tried. everyone seems to love the WP-25's
  19. Because it sucks for those of us living in MD, because everyone who sells stuff lives in VA
  20. Has anyone else tried using these for Fuge lighting? I was using, a regular CFL bulb I forget the wattage, and I was getting good growth out of my Macro algae, I switched out to the E27 LED about 6 weeks ago and I've noticed that the growth has almost stopped, I have also noticed that the Cyano algae that was growing pretty thick in my fuge has gone completley. I have not had fish in my tank for 3.5mo that may also have something to do with it. Just wondering if anyone else has tried these lights, it was $10 on Ebay so I figured it was worth a shot, I leave the light on 24/7 just like my old buld
  21. Nice, the Wife and I went Whale watching in Seattle before we had kids, it's amazing to see, however we didnt get that close, I bet they will never forget that day.
  22. I actually snuck a Coral beauty into the house and tried to play it off as a wedding anniversary gift, I don't think she bought it for a second but she did call it "Her fish"
