I started with 2 in my tank when I set up my tank 20months ago............1 died after a year. Now the 1 I have left is the only original livestock from when I set up my tank...........There from the very beginning.

The coolest saltwater item you have owned

Agreed.... Bluezoo shipped me 1 of these on accident about 6 weeks ago.....BEST SAND SIFTER OF ALL TIME...............Its unbelievable how much sand these guys move! Tunnels and dunes everywhere!!! Now he has finally made himself a home underneath 1 of my rocks.... The only issue is now I have to get a frag rack....... to many coral frags get buried otherwise! Also slightly annoying seeing a cloud of sand come up once in a while (to much sifting!) ps.....my favorite is my 4" blue hippp (he swims in my hand, even when I'm not feeding.....truly amazing experience) And I see him sleep almost flat on the same rock every night. -
my cleaner wrasse can be seen in this video from a while ago. Actually its time I post a new video, everything has grown out, and completely different.......here' s the vid anyways....

stuff grows like wild fire! Id say one of the fasted growing coral ever. I have a 18" section growing on my backglass in my main tank, which Ive fragged numerous times. Even had it hitch hike into my newest tank, and grew its own colony from scratch in 1 month from 1 tiny polyp. This is a coral you can look at it in the morning, and sometimes even notice growth by the evening! love it!

Hunan Manor, Columbia MD.....amazing food! I estimate tank is about 1,500 gallons, has a 4-5 blue hippo's, large yellow tang and purple tangs. Some of the fish have significant bite marks from over the years. There is a decent amount of fish, and when the lighting is on, tank looks really nice.
-
I have had mine for about 8 months now. At my local Chinese restaurant they have 2 in there each about 4-5" long. ....I would think they must be at least 3-4 years old? The tank they have is around 1,500gallons.

Going good so far. Yes, a bit small, however do-able, since they are not full grown. I originally got this idea from the tank on the desk at house of tropics a 4gal pico. See attached.... Doing 20-25% water change weekly Also added a 1" blue strip gobey -
JBJ 3gal Picotope Aquarium or JBJ 3gal cubby w/ LED?

Up and running for 35 days now. Fragged some of the GSP to the backglass, and put the rest in a different tank. Added 4 mouth hammer. Kenya tree babies 4x larger over the 1 month. Also added some zoas, and pulsing xenia, and baby 3/4" yellow watchman, which will be moved to my larger tank eventually. I was pleased with this tank, except 3 of the White LED's failed today, and started to flicker. Working on claim with JBJ. From what I can tell this tank has either been discontinued by JBJ or I am 1 of 5 people in the world that bought this tank. Overall still pleased.....love having clowns/tank in the bedroom, in addition to my larger tanks.Still good tank for the price.....just need LED issue fixed. -
Thanks! P.S I got the idea for this pico cubey from the pico that sits on the desk at house of tropics.....that was is lots of gsp with 2 clowns, and 1 seahorse
-
So I decided on a small tank for the bedroom. I also have a Red sea max 250 and 130. Got the 3gal JBJ cubey for $84......running with already established water from the larger tank. I also added Sand, small LR, GSP, 3 snails, and 1 blue leg hermit crab, and 2 baby kenya trees to this cubey tank (all taken from the larger tank). Then to finish things off, added 2 snowflake clowns. Its hard to tell however there is 4 very tiny baby hammers also on the LR. In the larger tank I lost a 4 head hammer, however these 4 tiny baby hammers survived, so I added to the cubey. Also using Cemipure. Tank has only been running 48hrs. Flow is very minor however does the job. Going great so far! Thought I would share pics since it seems there is hardly any of these tanks out there... Video of my red sea max 250 also...

JBJ 3gal Picotope Aquarium or JBJ 3gal cubby w/ LED?
harticus5 replied to harticus5's topic in Nano Tanks
yes, wont skim the very top, only about 1" below the water level, and then at the bottom. Then also must have very small sand bed otherwise the bottom intake gets covered and you would have to put small rubble in front, or something. The reviews Ive found say the lid is very cheap plastic, however I don't know if that is still the case when the lid is removed. Sounds like a clip is available to have without the lid. I actually would prefer keeping the lid on to help with the amount of evaporation. I think overall this has a really nice look to it, and for the price looks like it can do the job. I think I will go for it for the $85 w/ LED cubey over the 3gal pico at $55 Amazing how few reviews there on this cubey tank compared to other desk tanks. I am in thousands on my red sea 250/130, so not trying to go crazy on this one. -
JBJ 3gal Picotope Aquarium or JBJ 3gal cubby w/ LED?

Marine depot has it on sale for $85 until the end of the month. I would order suppliers for my larger tanks at the same so shipping would be free. So still $85 with shipping. -
Hello, I am looking for some advice I already have a red max 250 and 130 Looking to get a 3gal which one of these 2 should I go for? The cubby with the LED is on sale for $85 which is what Im leaning towards because I do not want to buy replacement bulbs anytime soon, although reviews do not seem to be very good at all. or the 3gal pico Just plan on growing some gsp and having 2 clowns. Thanks!

National Aquarium Blacktip reef opening July 10
harticus5 replied to AlanM's topic in General Discussion
I have a membership for my family, and we were there about 2 weeks ago. The new tank was up and running. No fish had been added yet. Pretty cool view from above, and it Looks like they aquascaped good as possible for fake coral. There is an awesome underwater ledge, that kind of drops off like a real reef, and I think it drops off to an underwater viewing window in front of it. And only at almost 12 million bux to build. Ps......They should be ashamed of the tanks they have with real coral. Nasty looking GSP growing, and thats about it. -
I personally say, after plumbing equipment for hundreds of residential swimming pools...... Jandy 2way or 3 way valves (2"insidex2.5"outside) (or they also have 1.5" ID) are the best valves available on the market............(meant for swimming pools, however will work perfect with any pvc plumbing) (the never-lube version, no grease plug) Better than any ball valve at home depot or lowes.

I had 2 Emerald crabs originally that behaved fine, no issues, and both died off after about 2 months. About a month ago I bought 4 more, 2 for each tank I have. In both tanks they started eating coral!!!! (waiving hand and hammers) Now moved into a QT Tank...(3 of 4) 3 coral eating emerald crabs for sale $7 for all 3!!!!!
-
I see about 8 fish in that picture, I thought I saw about 50 on the episode? Will have to re-watch. Call me crazy, I liked the sail, and this tank in general. Yes, 99% of fake corals look like crap.
