All in an efford to save some on electricity, and make it easier to clean the glass, more shimmer should also be nice. 180gallon

  5. Having a hard time locating any information on this..... I have a 180 gallon with GyreXF150 and MP40QD, and a 65gallon with 1- WP10. The MP40QD has a the Ecotech battery backup. The XF-150 and WP10 is connected to to Icecap battery backup. During a test power outage.....flow on MP40QD and WP10 is good/instant.....however the XF-150 there is about a 2-30 second start up delay and flow is extremely week flow. I recall reading the pump goes to "minimal flow" or "10% flow/30% flow to conserve battery" for the xf-150 any one have any experience with this? I suppose there is not much I can do, other then give the powerhead a good cleaning and see if there is any improvement.
  6. I use the eshopps rectangular socks and always rinse for about a minute prior to installation...... If not protein skimmer gets seriously effected/foam overflow. Quick rinse and protein skimmer does not get effected at all.
  7. Hello. .curious on others opinions... I have a 180 gallon and 65 gallon tanks on a shared system connected to 60 gallon sump Current light on refugium is macrogro 25 watt has grown cheato good the last 8 months. I will switch to a used kessil eventually however I have a spare 8watt stock skyype light from an im tank. So for fuge light 1) macroglo 25 watt Or 2) 8watt skppe light Or) 3) kessil ocean blue

  11. I would pull that and trash..... That looks super dead in the pic. Very small chance it would grow back at least to the best of what i know
  12. P.s I do like the rw idea...i even have a wp40 and wp 25 sitting around.... Just going with the mp40qd for the battery backup. I know jaebo has battery backup to however looks kind of cheap
  13. I have a 180 and have been running the gyre xf150 so far no issues 2 months . Moves alot of water, and right now I run at 100percent power pulsing on/off. Does create gyre effect thru entire 6 ft tank......control buttons are not the easiest to read or operate so i only run at pulsing mode However I am adding a mp40qd this week and plan to lower gyre power to 50-75 percent Yes 1 gyre will be more the suffecient for a 120 however may want to add 1 smaller head also
  14. Use the bulk reef supply kit......works perect. Like a grid of fishing line. Very clean and pretty easy to cut to size. I used it to replace a glass top lid
  15. Recently I have found hundreds of them on the front glass at night in one of my tanks! during the day 98% are hiding.
  16. Just wanted to show some pictures/video of my bedroom 8 gal IM tank 1 year old. 2 snowflake clowns 1 diamond watchman, and lots of bright green gsp. I regret not getting a 20g, I went small because this is 1 of 3 tanks, I have. so I was trying to keep costs down. The rocks are 97% covered in GSP, and there are 9 frags of GSP growing on the back wall. The clowns have both hosted to the GSP. I am thinking of removing the sand completely, and allowing the gsp to cover the bottom of the tank. Just wanted to hear some thoughts? I run the tank with Chemipure elite, purigen, jbj nano zapp uv, floss, intank media basket, and a return pump 4x power over stock. http://youtu.be/47bM9fQQ76Y
  17. I use coral sea pro in all 3 of my tanks. Other then ghe price i love it. I get the larger buckets for about $65 shipped. Ive also found calcium levels are always good with this salt. I still dose calcium anyways
  18. I use this, 1 cap full mixed into my top off water. Seems to do a decent job. Strong odor when opening main bottle
  19. Thanks for chiming in. I am hesitant to upgrade the pump again, as I am already about 4x times over the power of the stock pump (even though stock pump is way under powered). I also have the finest grade white sand, so I definitely do not want the sand to stir up. Yes, I always could return, I suppose after shipping I would get about $20-25 back of the $30 I paid. I do have a Hydorflo laying around, which I could try. For the moment, looks like I will be sticking with stock return nozzle. Thanks again, ps......my current pump that I already upgraded is rated at 300gph..................so going to the Eheim 600 @ 160gph would be even a lot less power.
  20. HI, I recently upgraded the smallest of my 3 tanks. Went with the IM 8.....already upgraded media basket, and pump. Running CPE, Purigen, and filter floss. The pump I am using is the Hydor Pico Evolution 300gph (stock 92gpm). Anyways, pump works great with stock return nozzle. Soon as I add Spin stream, I swear the return power drops 50%!! Anyone have any advice they can give? I could deal with the larger size of the spin stream, or the loud noise the spin stream puts out, as I was expecting from reviews........however the power loss seems to be to much of an issue.
  21. best part is the underwater viewing area. especially when its not crowded. My family has a membership and we bring friends fairly often.
  22. The corals at house of tropics have looked horrific the last 6 months. Great fish selection tho! Cte corals look amazing, however are extremly high priced
