  1. Good luck, Milton. The market is wild and unpredictable right now. In my experience lately with colonies is you will either get lowballed, or if the pot is sweet enough, somebody will grab and then most likely chop it up and resell.

so if you’re not in a rush, and you want the least amount of work, try and move it all together and be prepared to take a few weeks.

If you don’t mind about the monetary loss, price it all to move and then begin your next tank configuration.

if you want the most amount of money (which means the most amount of work) dice them up and sell frags. This means you’ll have to deal with more people as well, and as stated, you don’t want to go this route.

You could give them to the club and we could potentially frag them out for members at the next meeting, no matter what, you’ve got options.

Sorry to hear about the job but it sounds like it's been for the better! I'll keep an eye out for the truck the next time I'm in DC.

The tank is looking great. I love that candy cane colony. It's so clean.

Thank you, we're making do over here.

That's my little frag tank. It's only 10 gallons, and I hardly touch it. The court jester goby is the only fish, and it's out all the time.

  3. I have in 80 gallons:

    2 clowns

    1 lemon peel angel

    1 flame angel

    2 mandarins

    1 bangai cardinal

    1 chromis

1 yellow tang that disappeared 🤷‍♂️

    i had a few chromis (3 total,) now there’s 1.
heavily stocked with corals, I think it’s a sweet spot with residents. I think you’d be fine to add a few more of your wishlist without upsetting the balance.

Glad the tank is well. Sorry about the job. Where's the BBQ business? If I'm in the area I'd gladly support your business.

Tanks look good. Wishing you all the luck with the new endeavor.

Thanks, it's been a lot of work, but it's super rewarding. I'm shocked about the tank still looking nice!

Tanks still looks great! You must have the right sauce. Good luck w/ the BBQ biz. Is it a food truck? If so, my 'hood does food truck nights.

Must have, it's called KISS Sauce, lol.

It's a trailered offset, I've been overwhelmed with business locally, we'll see what happens in the new year months.

  5. Well. Lots happening for me. I got let go from a job I worked at nearly a decade in late August.

I started a BBQ Pop Up Business.

Tank took a backseat for about 4 months.

Cleaned the glass, did a water change. It's doing pretty well all things considered.

  6. My current tank is whatever I had in this tank just moved over with more water volume think I'm doing something right, as corals are all growing, but my SPS seems finicky in some locations with some pieces. However, my torches are all giant colony's now, so something's working.

Need to check Alk for the month (seems I'm doing this monthly now, not daily.)

At it's peak, I had 48ml each solution every 24 hours (98ml daily) Crazy to think about.

Looking forward to seeing some photos.

    😂. I’m 99% sure you’re right. I’m using All 4 reef now so I only dose 1 thing.

Take a little out and put it in the tank - white cloud in the water is alkalinity (especially if it's soda ash).  My calcium also seems more viscous at standard concentrations (though magnesium is even more viscous still).

Could also take like 100mL of salt water or something and add a few drops and measure.

This is the way, I should have thought about that! Thanks!

  8. Welcome back! As you have probably noticed there's been a bit of a slowdown. Possibly covid related? Personally, my tank is on auto pilot and I don't get to enjoy it as much as I used to. I haven't been able to make it to any meetings due to a demanding work schedule, and it seems like a lot of the OG's have slowed down with (IMO) more people leaving the hobby then are joining!

Tank tours are a blast from the past!

  9. I prefer Reef Cleaners for the variety and stock, but it's a no for me with shipping. They will give free USPS shipping on orders over $75, but suggest you pay for UPS overnight with certain inverts and large orders.

Reeftopia will ship for free overnight after you spend $150.

I recently split a reeftopia order with a local buddy, and my nuisance algae was decimated within 2 weeks.

I've had rocks in for about year. It's a mix of bleached/acid washed rocks from Tony's breakdown, marco rock from BRS, and real reef rock from PEA. As soon as I added fish and turned the lights on about 8 months ago, I've been dealing with a killer GHA infestation. Check out how much I pulled out last week 😳

You're growing algae nicely! I know somebody who also had this issue, and UV has started to noticeably clean it up within 24 hours.

Flame angel in an SPS dominate tank could be an issue. I know they are beautiful but the nipping at SPS polyps is a big no no for me. Hahah.

I have one in my mixed reef currently. In smaller tanks I've been more coral vs fish focused, but it came with a bundle of fish from a break down. There is also a lemon peel in there. If they're nipping, I'm not noticing, zoas, clams, lps, sps. This is the first time I've added "with caution fish" that have not gone to the buffet immediately.

This is too funny. After more than a year, I'm just getting around to setting up the SCA 120 and using your nano as my inspiration. I drilled it to set it up as a peninsula two weeks ago and I probably would've swapped it for your 80. Build thread coming soon

Yeah, that's the way life works, isn't it?!

  12. OK!

Back during this post I was talking about the difference weight wise in between an 80 and a 120, but running as a peninsula. That made people worried. Now I'd like to go back to running against the wall, which means I'd cover over 5 joists, but running a 170 gallon tank. Is this insane? Should I get an enginere out?
