  1. Hahaha my oldest one said the same thing. Sooooo it stays. On another note, my new geiseman power chrome t5s came in today. This was my second order with premium aquatics and won't be my last. Definitely recommend them as they have great customer service via phone or email, and ship correctly. For bulbs I got 2 aquapink, 2 pure actinic, and 2 actinic+. Going to start the sump build tomorrow and pick up a aquablue special.
  2. I love my scape but have been debating on the back part.... I've looked into DIY rock walls and have come up with a design. This is what I am thinking of doing Let me know what you think... The dark "half circles" are holes in reef shelves. Light will be able to past thru spotlighting the sand where I will be placing corals.
  3. Don't have APEX...I do have a RK tho. I've been using a Tsunami ATO and it's pretty simple but will definitely look into the Tunze. Not sure who makes the tank but I do know that the front is starphire.
  4. Thanks! I'll be using a 40gl with a footprint of 48x12x16. It'll have 3 chambers housing a dc1200 return pump, ATI BM250, and Avast kalk stirrer. I'm debating whether my RO unit should be plumbed into the system or, if I should use a reservoir.
  5. Near the end of the other tank I was getting into sps and chalices. I of course love zoas but do agree that they like dirtier water.
  6. Hahaha not unless you want to see me yelling and threatening a rocks life....
  7. Thanks guys. I'm very happy with the scape myself.
  8. In total I have about 140lbs of crushed coral and 150lbs of dry rock. The 2 rocks on the left and right (in front of overflow) are bigger than a red bouncy ball we used to play kickball with. Each rock weighs about 30-40lbs. I'll seed the tank by adding a bag of live sand and sump gunk from a few local hobbyist. As of right now I'm making more water and plan on adding more support in the crawl space.
  9. Thank you! I! I'm sure others have a longer trip but coming from Idaho traffic was timed and in Ithaca traffic was mellow. May be because of all that organic stuff the grew up there... Thanks! I love the depth in these tanks Here is another shot of the tank with more whites on.
  10. The rocks were from my previous tank that I dried out. I tried to power wash the rocks before putting them in but my outdoor faucet sprung a leak :( Therefore, I used a bucket of warm water and a brush. There's still a few things in the pours of the rocks and the sand wasn't washed as well as I would of like but, I figure when I add water I'll stir the sand and blast the rocks hoping it filters out. I'm sure this will prolong my cycling but it's ok. Has anyone done this and did it have any effect to your tank in the long run?
  11. They're not real brick siding they're faux rocks that you get from Lowes. Thanks! Me tooo!!!! This was one of the main reasons why I got it.
  12. They don’t tell you how much $ you’ll spend eating out while having your place on the market. Sometimes breakfast, sometimes lunch, sometimes dinner, and sometimes lunch and dinner. The end result of course is worth it, but will I do it again, probably not. Now that we’ve purchased a place in the City Of Fairfax my commute has been cut drastically. Use to be a daily routine of getting up 2.5 hours before work with kids and all to greet Mr. 66. Now, I have the option to walk to work while the Kids sleep in as abuela (best care ever) comes over. Now as there’s a sense of normalcy it’s time to build the tank. I purchased this tank and stand from another wamas member and I absolutely love this tank. The stand was excellently built and the tank itself, love the depth! This past weekend we scaped and added sand. Here are the results. Used egg crate to distribute the weight FTS before sand FTS after sand Right side Left side
  13. Chuchelli uses DIY leds over his system. I'm more of a t5 person myself but his sps colored up under his system. Maybe its the height and how his lights are tilted a bit but I always hope on his for sale thread.
  14. LOL LOL LOL I meant in the saltwater world...............
  15. Maybe that's why the Petco in Fairfax updated their aquarium system(doubt it). Instead of all tanks being plumbed into one sump each column now has its on sump. Perhaps live aquaria took them to school, or Petco just got wiser. Whatever the case is I hope Dr. Foster and Smith educates them and holds there hand during the process. If Petco becomes successful I hope this wont impact our small LFS.....
  16. After just breaking down my tank my purple tang got this crust growing over its eye and now he has only one eye.... I felt so bad for her and still do. She's doing fine now and is back to her normal self.
  17. Have a reef octopus 110 with a pump that is no bueno... I have all the parts to change up pump but the only pump I have is a mag 3... Would it work? Thanks!
  18. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=859730&perpage=25&pagenumber=1 http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1300282 Here's a couple that I have found. There has been a lot thru out the "ages" that I have found and based my tank off of.
  19. I use 2 blue+, 1 coral plus, and 1 purple plus over my frag tank. This combo makes every orange, red, purple, and yellow pop. I def recommend keeping your combo or dropping one blue + for another purple+.
  20. Dang Paul sorry to hear that. Hope its just the seal of the overflow.
  21. we'll Well thats interesting. One would think there would.be a difference other than $.
