  1. My clowns have hosted in my Aussie Elegance too. Right next to the large Ritteri I bought for them.

That is a great article. However, I am not solely basing my dissatisfaction on the color or consistency of my skimmate... it's the rising levels of nitrates that concern me. It seems that no matter how I adjust the CS2, I cannot get it to pull enough out of the water to maintain the levels I was used to with my old SWC. That was why I stated that I must be doing something wrong... because, a skimmer that retails for this much and is rated for tanks well over my size, must be capable of maintaining 0ppm Nitrates in a tank as sparsely populated as mine.

i haven't given up on that idea yet... i am giving it one more week... if it doesn't start pulling out the goo.... then i will sell it.

I taped the air intake and it's working for now. I haven't been able to get this skimmer to perform better than my 5 year old SWC. I feel Ike I must have it set wrong... Two weeks after adding this skimmer (Before the red slime remover) my nitrates were noticeable higher than normal, and the skimmer never produced any dark crud..it's more like green tea. What supply pump do you recommend for a 180gal tank.

I've had the skimmer off for two days while the red slime remover was doing its work... Turned the skimmer on today and can't get it under control. The effluent valve has zero effect on the overflow problem.. I twist it all the way to the right... Crazy overflow. All the way left... Same.

Can I adjust the airflow through the cs2? I can adjust the water contact time with the valve... But I can't figure out how to adjust the air flow. I added some red slime remover and it is overflowing the collection cup with clear water... I am about to pull the skimmer out and put my SWC back in... I need help.
  7. I have had the RBTA longer... It was already attached to that rock and the Sebae was slowly creeping towards it yesterday... This morning they were almost touching and then after some flirting, the sebae is back to his corner. I have only had the Sebae for a few days... For some reason my clowns pay zero attention RBTAs but hosted the Sebae within an hour of introducing the new anemone.
  8. It was entertaining breakfast action. Thanks! They are a cool pair, and they haven't spawned yet... At least I don't think they have. Would be really cool to see though. I have had them about 4 months.
  9. My sebae anemone is really close the my RBTA... It doesn't look like they are fighting... But is there cause for alarm? Should I attempt to move one? Or will they hash it out themselves?
  10. you put 88oz of Alk and Cal a day? that seems like a huge amount!! and a gallon of Mag all at once!!? that seems kinda off...
  11. I really enjoy having such a beautiful little world in my house. I have always thought of my tank as a living piece of art. It is the focal point in my living/dining area and I spend hours every day tinkering and checking on all the little critters.
  12. That's a really good point. Smaller doses more times a day... Doing it!
  13. Thank you for your advice... I will begin my two day testing tonight. I do not currently test for Mag, Stronium or any additive other than Ca or Alk... do you use a doser for anything other than two part?
  14. This has been a pretty big month for my tank. I added the AI Vega lights, an Avast Skimmer with swabbie, an Avast ATO and just this Saturday.... a Bubble Magnus 3 pump dosing kit. I have plugged it in and ran all the associated tubing to dose 2 part calc/alk. But I haven't added the fluid or programed the pumps yet. I guess I am a little aprehensive about overdosing my system. I know that dosing requirments are subjective and vary greatly from tank to tank... but how much should I start dosing? Is there a thumb rule when setting these things up? I love that the skimmer cleans itself and my lights are automatic... this is the next step for me to fully automate the tank. I would like to get to a point where water changes are the only maintenance actions... (and there are plans to automate that as well)
  15. Thank you very much! Maybe I will.
  16. The lights are great!! Love the controllability!! But I think my favorite thing is now there are no more sudden light on/off moments. Every transition of lighting happens as it does in nature... Super cool. Very pleased. And it is far less humid in my house now too... Big plus.
  17. I read somewhere on here that plate corals are rarely seen in the sand in the ocean. So I moved my baby orange to the rocks to see if it liked it better..... It is stretched out like a fat cat today... Looks pretty happy on the rocks.
  18. It was the lights.... Tank is doing great!! Ph has come back to the healthy range, corals are regaining color, algae has died off. What a month... Thanks for all the help folks!! It's nice to have a forum filled with ppl that care.
  19. It is opening up nicely in my tank... Thanks Flip!!!
  20. I too purchased a Neptune Apex a while ago and haven't gotten arround to setting it up. If possible, could I tag along? I need to set mine up as well... and I would love to see it done properly before attempting mine.
  21. I would love to have an 8x8 devils hand lether. When could I come by and pick it up?
