  1. Well the gig did not make it. It passed away on march 1st. I do believe it had something before I got it and the antibotics just could not handle it. I took some new video's:
  2. This has been a work in the making for a bit. Here is a playlist that shows the new gig and it's progress over the last 5 days. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...EtVThxjIhkUoIY Ohhh here is a new video of a top down look too: I did not take any new pics of the 120, as I am trying to concentrate on the gig a bit more. Thanks for following everyone and the comments! If you have any questions or suggestions please please ask.
  3. HAHAHAHA.. I liked animal.. I remember when it came out, not in re-runs. Here is an updated overview. I need to do this right. but I was waiting on something and had a few minutes to spare. The frags in the first tank (120) are the ones I got from outlawsteve, a few people have been asking to see them.
  4. Ya know... I have had this happen more than once. I finally took a little bit of action with a few of them. I know the owners names, so after I left I called in and asked for the owner by name. Once I was talking to them I explained what had just happened in the store. Texting employee, dead animals in the tanks, or worse no one at the register when trying to checkout. Funny thing is one of the stores I walked right back in after I hung up. The owner came out of their office/cave/cage and started in on the employees. 'Hey lets get some of this cleaned up in here' -- "Hello.. welcome in, how are you today?" -- 'Where did ___ go... on a break again...' Yeah some of the stores we know all too well and they know our voice, but sometimes we can get away with it. HAHAHAHA. There is nothing worse than walking in to a place and getting no 'greeting'. It is funny in some of the smaller stores, even the customers say hello to the people coming in, and I had never been in there before. It is all about networking, customer service, and what they see when they walk in the door. Wet floor and empty boxes all over the place do not help with getting return customers.
  5. Well the snow really made me enjoy a few things the past few days. I have been looking for a gig for a while, while I want a blue one, I am not partial to any that come in and are healthy. This past Wednesday, yeah just as the snow was starting to fall, I wondered into Quantum Reefs. There was a sign on the door that stated something like "Be back at 6 picking up shipment" Ya know it was just before 6 so I decided to go ahead and wait. I am really glad I waited. They come back in with like 8 boxes. Now I did have a heads up that something special/extra might be come in that shipment. They had been looking for a month or two. I gave a hand and helped unload/open a few boxes, being a curious customer.... hahahaha PLOP... there was this bag that had a silhouette of a mushy ball of flesh. For those that know about Gig's and shipping, they do bad and really are one of the worse shippers. As you can see by this next picture, it was pretty hard to see through the bag, but I took a chance. So I took it home and spun up the HT tank for it. I have been working with a few other reefers on re-writing protocols for successful keeping of gigs. This involves using cipro and daily water changes along with light to help the gig not only get acclimated but survive/reduce the expellation of zooanthae algae during this acclimation. Stichodactyla gigantea has been one of the most difficult in the home aquarium aspect to keep not only alive after shipping but alive in a tank in general. While some have no problems to just drop them in, there are quite a few that are a bit of a stickler. Then I set up a camera to take a series of time=lapse films. These show it in all sorts of states. With the video I could pinpoint down to a certain accuracy how much light I needed to set (strength and duration) and also showed just how much it was expelling and how it reacted. Here is a play list that will show you the past 4 days of video, with a few extras in it too: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVUkbFOyEFjPIJY2-KtEtVThxjIhkUoIY There are about 10 videos in there. Right now I am up to 4 days. So there is still a lot of time to go until it will be in the DT, but things are going forward. I also have a live webcam setup to monitor it and let people watch/see it at different times of the day/night. It has been getting better and better over the past 4 days and is responding to cipro and keeping a healthy form/disposition. I hope you enjoy and please ask away with the questions and comments.
  6. It is a video camera that has 1sec 2 sec 3 sec 4 sec 5 sec 10 sec and a few other options for taking video. PLUS it is a 1080 camera.
  7. I really love to see your stuff. The trip over there seem like a long trip, but it is worth it once you get there. Plus you can go by Sonic on he way there and back.
  8. HAHA... Thanks... They are easy to make for me, just set and forget it. I am going to use my camera and see if i can get the snow from Wed to Thurs.
  9. There we go... The 120DT is plumbed in with the 180DT and the new 75g sump is working for both of them. I have not taken pictures of the frags I got lately, they have about 2 more weeks in QT and they will be out in the tank. So.. besides the wiring needing to get tided up... what do you think?
  10. How full your skimmer is. Your tank from the bottom side. Water Change Station. How many pumps/power heads do you have sitting?
  11. Yeah that FTS I put up has already changed. I was actually testing it because I was working on cleaning up all the algae that had grown around. But.. I forgot to take a new one once it cleared out. Now I have done so much work in the fish room that I need to clean a whole section just to be able to take a nice picture like that again. Let me re-clean up and I will clean the glass and turn off the pumps and take the few minutes to take it. Granted it took it a hour or so to stitch it together from 6 pictures. I might do it with 8 this time.
  12. http://worm5406.smugmug.com/Aquariums/Jan-2014/i-SRMfnhv/0/X3/stitch4-X3.jpg <-- look at that picture
  13. I got Fusion too. After setting it up in the wizzard go into the regular apex view and add your feedA 000 off statements. Yeah new update came out yesterday.
  14. Yeah or the heater does not fail. I have had a bad experience with these new cobalts. They (Cobalt) have contacted me and I have sent all of mine back for them to investigate. Basically it was throwing electricity into the tank. I am waiting on them to respond with the resolution. Right now, there re NO cobalts in the production tank. QT -- yes, but NOT production.
  15. While DC, proper, is 63 square miles, the WAMAS area is roughly 5,627 square miles. So a traveling tour could do 10 in a day or maybe just one because of travel distance. On a side note, with that being said, three of us have restarted this about 4 months ago. While it is un-publicized, outside a few people that I have told, I have had a person express interest, down in Southern part of Northern Virginia (picture that, right?) We have had 2 visits so far. We start with lunch and then, spend the rest of the day at one location both discussing and recommending things. As simple as, change your GFO to 'Help me catch my fish'. We have raised the idea of other get togethers outside of aquariums. Normally it is a quick over view by the owner of how things work then we start looking. Sometimes other eyes can see a problem, or have been there done that, and can help get things running smoother or easier. Plus it helps to see how the other side of the fence does things. We are in Dulles area, PG County, and I am in Indian Head. I am the next visit in our series. As I am in the process of installing a 120 to be plumb in with my 180 and new 75 sump (that we just did this past weekend) there will be lots to see and look at. Welcome to the area, I go to Quantum Reef at least once a week, to look at their new items and pick up basic food and supplies. I have always had a positive experience and have made good friends there.
  16. Yeah I have no MH at all. All LED in the DT, ATS, and Sump Lights. Nice little cars, btw... I really like the 'got space' pic. not much room there. HAHAHAHA Any updated pictures of under the hood on your build?
  17. HAHA Yeah, close, it is the drivers... for my algae turf scrubber LED. Step from 120vac to 12vdc. I still need to finish moving wiring and overall cable management. Of the entire sump area I think the only thing that stayed in the same place was the outlets and brain. All probes pumps ATO storage all of it moved.
  18. Yeah... pumps, dosers, heaters, PROBES, ohh and apex connectors... LOL
  19. Yeah it was. I had to do the web update a few times as it kept failing. But I am all good since it came out.
