  1. Right now he is still in my full reef display tank. I'm fearful to move him as I do not want him to stress out since he has been getting better. I will have to do some research on the Prazi and see if it's ok to have in the tank. I know if he gets worse I will move him but he looks to be getting better slowly. I'm afraid to put any new fish in there since I really do not know what he came down with. The other tankmates are doing fine and not showing any signs of getting sick.
  2. I started shredding up some seaweed strips and soaking it in garlic xtreme and Vita-Chem and some Furan-2. He started eating that Friday night! I'm soo stoked about that. Yesterday he ate that twice (once in morning and once in evening) and then this morning he ate it again. He is used to me hand feeding him but since he is staying at the bottom corner of the tank, I used some tongs to feed him. Chomped it right up! I'm going to keep doing that twice a day until he is 100% I'm so happy that he is at least eating that. I know he is not out of the water yet but at least we are slowly progressing with him at least eating the seaweed soaked with the vitamins and medication. He looks like he is trying to perk up but only time will tell. Thanks for all the article suggestions. I read them and this is what they advised to try and do. As long he is eating, I do not want to stress him out by trying to QT him at this point.
  3. I added a Christmas Wrasse about three weeks ago and some corals I bought from Dr. Mac's about a month ago. No, tank is not overstocked. I have not lost anything in this tank in quite some time. Probably six months ago when my Achilles tang died (it was a new addition and only lasted a month) I will definitely check out the Disease and Fish treatment area and read up on it. A good sign today was that he did eat some algae. Not very much but at least it was something.
  4. Parameters are: Ammonia: 0 Nitrates 0.75 (they have always been high since I have big fish) Alk: 9.0 DKH Calcium : 390 ppm Magnesium: 1200 ppm Ph: 8.0
  5. He is breathing normally. Just staying in the corner and not eating.
  6. Reactors are running correctly. I'm getting ready to test all the levels. I did a 45 gallon water change this morning and wanted that to cycle through before running tests. I'll post results in a few. All the other fish are fine and eating.
  7. I need some help. I currently have a Vlamingi tang that I have had for six years. I have had him since he was a baby. He is about 6 or 7 inches now. He has always ate very well and swims all over the tank as he owns it. I went on vacation and came back on Monday. He is now not eating and is staying in one portion of the tank. He has a little bit of white on his one pectoral fin and his eyes are cloudy. I called the exotic vet near me (don't laugh but this is my favorite fish) but he is unfortunately on vacation for the next two weeks. I need some help to figure out what I need to do. Here is the current information that I have: He is in a reef 250 gallon. I do water changes once a week. I do three 50 (each week for three weeks) gallon water changes and one 90 gallon water change (at the end of each month). My parameters have not really been an issue. I did do a water change this morning and will test the water in a few once it cycles through the tank. I can set up a QT tank but do not just want to be throwing a bunch of chemicals in there not knowing what I'm treating and adding more stress to him. I have a biopellet and phospate reactor, u/v sterlizer and my skimmer runs 24 hours a day. I'm just at a lost of what to do at this point.
  8. I agree with those above. I bought all Hannah checkers and recently noticed that mine was WAY off on the calcium even though I bought new regents. I went and bought a Red Sea Pro Test kit and found out it was over 600!!!!. It was because my Hannah checker was reading 324 and I started dosing. I was alerted when I kept dosing and the checker's reading never went up.
  9. I won one of the 50.00 gift certificates from the WAMAS meeting over the weekend. Thanks so much for your support to the club. I can't wait to use it! I just bought a media reactor from you two month's ago and LOVE IT! Need to buy some refills.
  10. I know Quantum Reefs has them. I just picked up one last month.
  11. At MACNA this year, I won the T60 Slim Design by Coralvue/Reef Octopus. I had a flood in my basement and have had to deal with my 240 down there so have not had any time. I FINALLY got the darn thing set up and has been cycling for about 2 weeks now. I bought some of the Real Reef Rock that was shown at MACNA along with Caribsea giving me some rock at the show. I think it turned out nice. I have not decided on much of the inhabitants of this new addition other than a pair of Black Ice Snowflake clowns. I will see if I have a better go at SPS in this tank . I'm getting built a screened top for this as I don't want any of my residents to go carpet surfing. Taking it slow and steady. I can say this was my first MACNA and BOY did I have alot of fun. Volunteered a bunch of hours and got to meet some really great people from WAMAS. I live so far away and do not make too many meetings so this was an experience. Learned alot and walked away with a BUNCH of stuff. I won't be going to MACNA next year as I will be in Alaska during this time. If it ever comes back to the East Coast you can bet darn skippy I will be back. Word to the wise, BRING A TRUCK!!!! I brought my brand new car in September and my car looked like it belonged in a circus after I put me and my friend and all of our winnings in it.
  12. I find mine accurate as well. I have all of them.
  13. I won the T60 at MACNA. I just got it all plumbed up and putting water in it tomorrow. It's pretty slick. I did not think that the Slim design ones came out until next year? That was the one I won at MACNA. I know the T60's that are out now I believe the overflow is on the left hand side. The new one's they showed at MACNA is all in the back; which creates more space in the tank. I had to contact Reef Octopus directly for the manual as it did not come with it and I do not believe they have even created them yet as what I got was just a picture diagram.
  14. Insurance company stated that would at least like three quotes. They understand that this is a unique business and if they can't get those that is fine but want at least one more. I have PM'd Zygote and just waiting to hear from him. Thanks for the information. This has been sooo frustrating.
  15. Because of liability issues, I can not touch the tank during this process. The insurance company wants professionals that do this type of work to submit quotes and have one of them complete what needs to be done. I really just need names of some companies that do this professionally and know what the insurance company will want and need during this process. So far I have found Reef eScape and Quantum Reefs willing to complete quotes and do the work. Does anyone know of any other companies who does this and can recommend?
  16. I had a pipe burst last Thursday in my basement (not from fish tank). We had ServiceMaster come out and found out our entire carpet in the basement and partial of the drywall needs replaced. I currently have a 220 gallon reef set up. UGH. The company has stated that the tank will need to drained, moved and all livestock and live rock be relocated while carpet is removed under the tank, renovations to walls and new carpet is replaced. Does anyone know of a company who does this. I have reached out to ReefeScape and received a quote but I have a feeling my insurance company is going to need more than one quote. I'm so distraught over this. My tank has been up for 8 years and most of my fish have never been through this stress. Any advice of some companies would be appreciated so I can get this information over to the insurance company
  17. We order directly from Larry's for Larry's food or I go all the way to Quantum Reefs for food. Nothing here in Southern Maryland.
  18. I won a couple of things. I won the 32 gallon CoralVue tank set up, a couple of the Marineland Canister filters and a heater. I desperately needed those things so I was happy. The fish tank is going in my office. I was able to get one those Maxspect lights so this new set up will look great!
  19. Yup. Im that Cynthia. Yeah we had to take it apart but got everything hime. Going to work this week to set it up in my home office
  20. I just wanted to thank all the WAMAS BOD and staff that spent tireless hours putting MACNA together. This was my first MACNA and my really first time with spending any time with WAMAS members. I have been a member for about two years and the meetings are a little far from me and do not make many. I met a lot of great members and enjoyed volunteering for the week. Thanks again.
  21. If we are scheduled to volunteer is there a certain meeting area and a sign in sheet? Getting excited to volunteer for a great event. This is my first MACNA!!!!
  22. I tried that already and it states that these dates are not available for the discount.
  23. I had a question. I posted in the Volunteer coordinator post but this may be the best place for it. I went on the hotel's website and it states that it cost 41.00 per day to park at the hotel. Are volunteers able to get a parking pass? With being at the hotel for set up starting on Tuesday and coming back and forth every day is going to get expensive at that cost per day to park. I may need to take the metro from Tuesday - Thursday. I have a hotel room for Friday - Sunday but that's 246.00 in parking for the whole time I have to be there.
  24. I have a question with regards to parking for volunteers. I went on the hotel's website and it states that it cost 41.00 per day to park there. Are volunteers able to get a parking pass? Just wondering if I need to take the metro in Tuesday - Thursday as I'm staying at the hotel starting Friday.
