  1. Any glass tank builders here on WAMAS?
  2. I suppose, but I'd have to drain the tank almost to the bottom... and what about next time this happens? Inside. :-(
  3. I am thinking about it...
  4. I can't help it.. I love my tank, but can't stand the fact that i scratched the H-E double hockey sticks out of it today... Plus, my stand is way oversized for my cube, and could fit a much bigger tank on it.... so, I am considering having a different tank made. It would be 42"L x 24"D x 24"H outside dimensions, using Starphire glass on the front panel. I would want a coast to coast overflow with two drains on the back panel in the corners, and a single return in the middle. Any ideas what something like this would cost me?
  5. Oh man... I could really care less about the sting... It's the huge scratch on my front pane that has the real "sting". :-(
  6. I wish that claw would scratch the itch that this sting is giving me!
  7. I decided to re-aquascape in order to move the rocks away from the sides of the tank. Using epoxy, I set up everything just the way I wanted it... Then after I was finished, and was wiping down the tank, ROCKSLIDE!!!! Everything fell.. I rushed in with my hands, and ended up getting stung on my arm- by what I have no clue... So here's my sting and my freshly scratched acrylic:
  8. Here we are a week later- new additions healthy, happy, and eating... My anemone is doing great.. He moved just a small bit from where I put him, to hide it's foot.. I've fed it small pieces of fish and some cyclopeeze. I also put a pic of an anemone hosting some clowns to give my guys a hint... We'll see how that goes...
  9. That's my intention... The only thing is finding a way to get the mesh inside the acrylic frame and still be taut...
  10. I am in the works with Adam from Artfully Acrylic to fab up an acrylic-framed mesh top!!
  11. Finally got my stand skinned today... 3/4" MDF panels covered in black plastic laminate. I countersunk and glued 4 magnets in per panel. Here it is:
  12. While searching for info I stumbled across this good read, and thought I'd share for anyone who might have similar questions: http://www.marinebio.net/marinescience/04benthon/crani.htm
  13. Is an SPS coral one animal? Or is each polyp an individual animal? If they are individuals, what about the "flesh" that covers the skeleton, and the skeleton itself?? I'd like to understand more about this..
  14. how strange. Whenever I try to send as personal, it charges me a fee if the money is not in PayPal. Hmmmm. I'll have to look into this.
  15. Here's the deal with Paypal: if you send as personal, it will only be free if it is coming directly from your PayPal balance. If any amount needs to be taken from your CA or CC, there will be a fee.
  16. +1. He built my tank too and did an awesome job!
  17. are you running both in the same reactor?
  18. Here's my parameters for the day: S.G. 1.024 Alk 7.87 dKh Nitrate 2ppm Calcium 569 Phosphate .07ppm Calcium came down some with water changes, as it was >600 previously... Getting a Magnesium test kit shortly.
  19. if one happens to be a bleeding apple scoly, would you toss it my way please!! lol
  20. Lol guys... I'm done adding for a while now... Just couldn't stand looking at the near-empty tank. I think there is one major difference between my tank and yours Ryan, in that you used mostly dry rock upon startup, and I used mostly live from the ocean. I really think that my tank cycled rather quickly, and my levels are great. I do have diatoms, but very little considering the tanks age, and they are going away. Please don't think that I don't take all of your opinions seriously- I do. But this is not my first start-up, and this early stocking is a risk I was willing to take. Now- I just gotta keep all this stuff alive!! I will.
