  2. Units holding out at 9 TDS and not budging. Is it safe to use or too high? Do LFS usually carry DI Resin? Any ideas what could have happened to waste that much DI in a 3 day period? The water wasn't running or anything that I know of. Did I pack it incorrectlY?
  3. Update: In has a steady reading of 199. Out started at about 150 and has managed to go down to 45 and declining slowly. Its been about 10 mins.
  4. I believe the specs says 65psi. I would says I do because before I would get only 3G/hr. With the upgrade its almost 6G/hr. I have timed it. Unless I am wrong in that assumption. No back up. I "assume" I have installed/plumbed correctly. I made ~20G of 0TDS water for a water change in about 3 hours that was almost 1.5-2 weeks ago. I haven't touched it since so I would say yes. I'll try to get another reading of the in/out and post back.
  5. the TDS from the IN line is around 200. It's a BRS 4 stage 75GPD that I upgraded with the 150GPD.
  6. Was away this past weekend. Came and noticed that my top off bucket was low so I went to fill it up. When I left on Friday none of the filters/di resin showed any exhaustion/use. When I came back the DI resin was pretty much 75% used up with the other 2 filiters looking like they did when I left. I didn't think anything of it. Checked the TDS in at around avg 200. TDS out was off the charts...over 400 and beyond to the point where the meter didn't register (highest I saw as 800 something). Figured I need to let it run for a bit since it hadnt been used recently. I let the unit run for awhile and came back the TDS out was starting to go down to the 120's then all of a sudden creeps back up to off the chart levels. About a week and a half ago everything was fine. 200 in - 0 out. and none of the filters/di resin seemed to be exhausted. I did recently add the 150gph upgrade and changed to all new filters but that was a month ago and I only made maybe 30 gallons since then? What gives?
  7. I'm a stones throw away in Rockville. Welcome to the neighborhood
  8. ooooo it's so pretty! Congrats on the new tank. Can't wait to see it filled up.
  9. A skeletor moray eel http://www.liveaquaria.com/diversden/ItemDisplay.cfm?c=2733+3&ddid=153366
  10. The rocks on either side from the water line in the tank are 6-7" The main rock in the middle is about 10" from the waterline
  11. No idea...since ich wiped out my whole tank..I'd like to know I can keep fish alive first I can't remember if Rob said I should be doing LPS or SPS.... I know I like the look of acros. maybe an anemone or zoas down in front. So I am open to suggestions..
  12. Now this isn't exactly how Rob had it, as I switched the two 90s in the middle/right side for 45's but its close. Updated FTS: Don't mind the herbie drain in the back, I'm working on getting my overflow box shortened. I'm in process of getting more sand in as well as placing some rock rubble to help cover the pvc openings. Doesn't look like it but there are alot of little caves and holes for things to hide in and more surface area to to plug frags Thanks again Rob!
  13. Will get one for ya when I get home No, thankfully he came fully dressed
  14. Not sure if this is the right spot for this since he technically isn't a vendor, so please move it need be. I had recently contacted Rob and asked for help on doing a PVC housing structure for the eel I am planning to eventually get. Rob was on time and ready to go. He answered and explained anything I had asked from past experiences to local vendors. Even gave me some tips about my skimmer (was a bit too wet.) Set up the pvc housing with rock pillars and re-did the rock work. Couldn't have asked for a better turn out. Rob was a great guy to meet and would definitely recommend him to other members. Don't let his posts fool you, he's actually a pretty cool guy +1 for Rob!
  15. Thanks for the laugh! Thanks for the tips Jan!
  16. Was walking by the tank today when I noticed the pistol shrimp coming out from under a rock....I was shocked! I hadn't seen this thing since March 15th!!!! Hes gotten so big! This morning I noticed one of my nerite snails laying on its back and what I assumed was dead...I had to rush out the door for work so I wasn't able to fish it out. He was still in the same position when I came home, however one of the dwarf cerith snails happened to be climbing over him when all of a sudden the nerite sucked him in...shell and all...is this normal?? for the snail to play possum or even eat other snail?? does it mean I need to feed the tank more??
  17. One month down...another month and a half to go.....
  18. Thanks for the laugh. I lost it when he tried to simulate the fish swimming..haha
  19. Don't know how long of a box you need but BRS has started selling overflow boxes. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/aquarium-overflow-overflow-box-2400-gph.html that one is 18" long. Next size down is 12". Don't know if it fits your needs but just a suggestion. Also, there are members here that work with acrylic and I'm sure they'd be happy to help.
  20. I'm about a 5 min drive from Justin off of 28 in Rockville. I couldn't agree more. As Justin said with all the trees in the area its highly recommended. My neighborhood is notorious for losing power during major thunderstorms and snow. It will be worth the investment.
  21. Use the net in each hand method Bob Fenner mentioned! Glad to hear the tank is turning around! I am fallow and just started the QT process. This will suck.
  22. Since everything except the female clown is dead, is there anything wrong with rearranging rock / moving or adding sand while I leave the tank fallow for 12 weeks? The female clown will be going into QT and the only thing left will be snails. Still not sure if I need 2 QT or 1? I guess my main concern is using copper. As I found out hypo salinity does nothing for velvet while copper does. Does copper cure pretty much any fish disease? I'd rather not use copper because it stresses the fish but if its the end all be all of medicine then I will only have one QT that I will use copper to treat everything.
  23. Looking nice man! This quote as many possibilites
