  1. I am really conflicted on how to reply to this. On the one hand, I want to say sorry for your loss, but on the other hand, I want to say, wow, that's really kind of cool! blush.gif

I'm thinking its pretty cool except I'm out 10 bucks for a new emerald crab........bought it to eat bubble algae, but it hasn't touched it so maybe my next one will do a better job.

  2. ^I agree.

I personally think the additional complexity in hardware and programming isn't worth having 20 separate channels... But it is fun to watch the technology develop.

LOL, when I finally get my fixture done it will be obsolete!

So, we go from two channels to 4-6 to 20. When this huge technological growth curve plateaus, I will put my money on 4-6 color channels (whites, blues, reds, greens), but I think the industry will eventually develop specific LEDs similar to the reef specific halide and flourescent lamps out there.

Does anyone know when this actually hits the market? I'm going to need lights for my tank in about a month and I was leaning toward the radions........

  3. yea im an eletrician. what you did will be fine and anything after the GFCI is protected but fishie is also right it wont reset after power loss on its own like a normal GFI outlet would.

    Ok thanks!

  4. Ok--for all you electricians, if I have a regular electrical outlet, then plug in a GFCI adapter to it, then a power strip into that, would that be considered safe, or would it be better to hire an electrician to change the outlet from regular to GFCI?

  5. Go with Azoo titanium, Eheim yager or the Fuval E series (great heater!).

Yea I have the Fluval 50 watt on another tank---I guess it has worked fine so far so maybe I will step up to a 300 watt....they are like 40 bucks on Amazon. Thanks for the input!

  6. I am starting 7 Gallon tank again ..

I will keep my RBTA and clowns only..

I used the big live rock that i have been kept in the small tank..

just simple set up.. i will reply on water change to keep the good parameter.

I am thinking either getting LED light or getting MP10 ....

    What would you suggest..??

I have the 5 gallon ecoxotic ecopico and I put an MP10 on it. It is about 3 months old and finially starting to stabilize. I have mostly ricordea and zoas in it. The mp10 is great...I thought it would be too strong no sand blows around at all. I only have it on 20% though.

  7. Setting up a 60 gallon cube in the next few weeks. Could anyone recommend some good quality and durable:

    1) In-sump Skimmer---I'm thinking a reef octopus?

    2) Return Pump--I'm thinking eheim 1260?

I've never had a skimmer and the return pump I use now is just a little maxi-jet so any advice is highly appreciated.

  8. I'm going with a rimless tank soon and wanted to know if anyone knows of any place to get a custom cut glass top. I'm looking for one than I can use with 4 clips so it just sits inside the rim of the tank. Some would say it defeats the purpose of a rimless tank but I have one for my tiny 5 gallon ecoxoitc ecopico (came with it) and you can't even tell it is there unless you view it from above. I'm just worried some of my livestock (wrasse) will jump with no lid.

  9. Hi. I have a 100g custom made few months ago. Customer service is awful, tank was ok. I had to re drill the one hole because the bulkhead did not fit. Glue seams had some air space too. So far its still holding up.It took extra 3 weeks to deliver. Bad experience altogether. I don't know about the ready made stuff though.

Thanks for the heads up....I guess maybe I will start to look elsewhere. I am really dead set on trying to get a cube tank (rimless). If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears......

  10. I went in on an order with another WAMAS member and got my part today. I ordered 6 ricordea and some blue zoa polyps. The total for the 6 ricordea was 54 bucks and the blue zoa polyps was 16. I am completely happy. The ricordea are among the nicest I have seen in a while. They charged rock bottom prices 6 for the greens, 9 for the orange, and 12 for the blues. The blue zoa polyps are on a clamshell and they said you would get 10-15 polyps. I didn't do an exact count but I am sure I got well over 50. Thankfully I dipped them in Coral Rx. A eunicid worm popped out. I couldn't believe it. I almost had to rip my entire biocube apart 2 weeks ago because I was dealing with one and then today I see another jump out. It quickly died from the dip. All in all I would definitely order from them again.

  11. When I was pricing tanks a few weeks back, they were one of the companies I contacted. They were super responsive and had great pricing. When you start to look at some reviews, I felt it sounded like if there would have been issues after the sale, I would have been in for an uphill battle.

I spent a little more and went with Miracles, 36x36x18 starphire rimless. The extra money spent(not too much) is well worth the peace of mind.

I'm not familar with miracles, but I will google them and check them out. Thanks

  12. They have been going through some changes... they used to get glowing reviews, and more recently just so-so.

Check the for sale section, I am pretty sure epleeds has the 100g version there right now.

Yea I saw that..100 gallons is more than I want to go for...the only other rimless cube I can find is the 60 gallon deep blue. From what I have researched the cadlights have gotten much better reviews than deep blue.

  13. Just wanted to know if anyone has had experience with these tanks. I am pretty sure I am going to pull the trigger on either the 50 gallon rimless cube (not a true cube) or the 70 rimless long. They come with everything including LED lights and are built in the good ol' USA. Prices are between 1400-1600. I've emailed a few times and they are very responsive.

  14. Here is a current shot of my Biocube 14gallon. I think I am stuffed to the max with coral. I plan on getting a bigger tank (50-70 gallons) this summer and I was going to sell this and move everything but I just don't think I can do it. Everything seems to be growing so well and I have perfect balance in there so I think I will keep this and maybe just grow frags in here with a little clownfish but still do the big tank anyway this summer. I currently have a 6 line wrasse (who is a baby but will move to the bigger tank in a few months) and a yellow watchman goby. I have mostly LPS and softies with a few sps scattered in there. I am using an MP10 and bought an InTank Media Basket in which I run chemipure elite and purigen along with a bag of phosban. It's been up for 8 months now. Any constructive feedback is well appreciated.

  15. Ok well the 29 gallon BioCube that I got from CaptainRon is running great I tested everything last night and all parameters are great but I have no idea what fish to put in it. The only thing I am sure I am getting is a pair of black and white clowns, but outside of that I am not sure I built a refuge in the back middle compartment for the soul purpose of being able to get a pair of Mandarin Dragonets but I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on whether or not they will be happy in the 29? And if they will not work then I am looking for some more fish species ideas.

    Thanks,

    Jake

I have a biocube and the only fish I put in there are a six line and a yellow watchman goby. Both have been alive and thriving for 5 months now. I do change the water (15%-20%) EVERY Saturday.
