  1. What other fish were in with them? They can be pretty paranoid about tangs and other fast moving fish I've read, though mine did fine with my kole as long as they had their barnacles to hide in.
  2. Pretty high. One of mine got out of the bucket when I was acclimating to the new tank.
  3. To keep mine from tile surfing I have my water level lower until I finish my tank setup and figure out a screen cover. No jumpers yet, though I do keep barnacles that they feel secure to dart to if they feel threatened instead of up and out.
  4. My anthelia polyps are pretty withered right now. I moved them briefly to rescue a mushroom from under a rock and they havent extended since. Not sure what I've done to them :( Glad to see yours are making a come back!
  5. It's going to be hard to top that one! I think the only way to best that is to move the 75 and 360 into place next! Anyone ever move a frag to a temporary location and then forget where you put it? ...I hope my lawnmower didn't decide to hide it...she does that a lot
  6. For your overflows I would think just cutting it to sit on top and then attaching it somehow would keep them happy. Maybe if you figure out how to do it at an angle so it would slope towards your display and they wouldn't get stuck if they did decide to jump on it.
  7. I got Imgur and as soon as I round up more photos I'll post the link. Thanks! Spent my sick day supervising my husband move our 90g out of the middle of the room and into it's permanent spot as the future qt. Very pretty to come down the stairs and see it... and then walk into the fishroom! Everything is doing so well, except for my conch: the eel saw him as a tasty treat. I should've seen that one coming. Moved my smaller conch and the cucumber outta there... Now the 180 is housing 5 chromis, firefish pair, and my "nice" male carpenter wrasse. We also finally got the 29g damsel tank's sump up and running. Very productive day for not feeling well.
  8. I just got some black gutter-guard from Ace to put on mine.
  9. I have firefish, and though many sites list them as schooling they like to be in pairs more. They are definitely beautiful fish to have. They like to hide for days at a time in their cave/barnacle..whatever you give them or they find. It's usually no cause for worry, I placed my barnacles at the front corner of the tank and when they escape to there and I can see them. Some fish swim too quickly and make them scared (like tangs). As long as they are comfortable in the tank and have a place they like to hide they should be fine and will become more outgoing even with the faster fish swimming next to them. A cover or keeping your water level a few inches lower would be best for them as their only lines of defense are hiding or jumping out of water. Treesprite has kept multiple pairs of different firefish without problem in her tank.
  10. Cardinals also school. I'm going to be getting my flasher wrasse some females soon, who kinda school together. Just in case you wanted something of a different size/color I thought I throw these ideas at you. Anthias are beautiful, but most of the ones I see are on the larger side, though I think they'd be beautiful in your tank.
  11. I was wondering how the clown's got along, but then realized you probably didn't have 2 pairs. I was wanting to put in two perc/occ pairs in my 360 but was advised against it...well my b/w male fixed my problem for me and now I have one pair :( Your list just made me take pause is all. Don't often see that mix and I think it's cool with everything you have going on. If your hawkfish is on the larger side, just try and get one that's still tiny. That's the only advice I found on pairing them and I got the sweetest little one on LA. It was an instant hit with them when I put "her" in, but my big guy was also more than likely male. Good luck to you if you try it!
  12. I found it... I'm in trouble now...
  13. Does that mean it will turn a normal yellow eventually? Also where do you see the DD previews?
  14. Zebra's are very peaceful with fish; from what I've read they're best and safest choice. Watch his diet too My snowflake begs constantly for food, but it's adorable and breaks my heart not to give her some food. She's very good with my fish; I have a small female hawkfish that I worry over constantly that's in with the eel. She likes to perch next to the eel's head all the time. Speaking of, if there's any of your fish you should pair, it's the hawkfish. I love my male falco so much I got him a girl and they are inseparable. They are by far the most entertaining pair I have. Edit: Accidentally a word.
  15. Just saw your pics thread. You have gorgeous fish and what looks like plenty of swimming room for everybody. What more are you looking to put in there?
  16. Oic, how are they all doing together? I'm integrating my fish into one big tank and would like to hear how yours are doing. Some of your tankmates have me curious. Can't help you on stocking levels though I tend to understock but I keep buying things so for me this has just meant more tanks...
  17. are these either/or? I mean as in the different clowns and eels?
  18. More livestock pics from our 75g. I'm going to work on hanging lights on the 180g and plumbing my 29g damsel tank this weekend.
  19. Test pic of the snowflake eel. Bear with me as I figure this out...
  20. The snowflake immediately went in the 75 and tail-slapped the picasso in the face. Picasso is more noticeably female (odd how I didn't notice her bodyshape change compared with the bw). And all is well. There's a few torn fins on both and a bite mark on her from the first meetup but they seem much more accepting and "happy." It's weird having 2 orange clowns, but they're pretty together. Maybe I can get some little snowcasso babies sometime in the future. Makes me feel better... Trying out my new phone's camera tonight. Uploading PICS SOON!
  21. Wow I'm sad. My husband called me this morning at work. He found the bw dead in the anemone the picasso was hosting. He wasn't there when I checked this morning. No idea how he got there unless she put him there or the nem picked him up close by. On a slightly happier note, I have a snowflake upstairs who gets a mate now. All of my clowns were under 2". I just called my picasso my female since it was the first to host and the more dominate. The BW guarded her and the nem ferociously w/e I stuck my hand in the tank even though he never went in. The BW was our second fish purchase ever. They made such a pretty pair. I'm really gonna miss that fish.
  22. Thought it was pretty relevant since they mentioned clownfish too Enjoy! http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/15274875
  23. Just got a new phone, and will upload pics tonight hopefully. Being without a camera is such a hassle! My 5 chromis seem very happy and all my levels are good. Hanging lights this weekend on the 180. Also, I'm sad - I can't find my male b&w clown, I hope he turns up soon. Some fish can go missing for a day or two without worry, but for a clown who is always front and center and trying to bite my fingers... :( My anemone moved and with it the female, I don't know if that has anything to do with it but I've looked in every corner I can think of. There's too many hiding spaces that I can't see though so Im hopeful. I'd never find a body if he did die. I have too many scavengers. I'm gonna feel silly if I call home later and he's back out again like nothing happened.
  24. tiger trochus are pretty and a little more careful around loose frags more because of their shape. They're great for algae and the best snail for my tanks, they don't mind the higher temperature either. A cerith or 2 would be nice as well if you don't have enough algae growth for a small trochus. I've heard that margaritas come from colder water and don't do as well in our tanks - what's your opinion on them, dakotasreef and how long have yours lasted? Mine died shortly but they were the first inhabitants in my very first tank so there's that. :(
