  1. Thanks for the tip, I'll keep an eye on it next time. Havent had any problems with temp since it was really earlier this summer and it was never anything serious, but I'll keep that in mind.
  2. Yeah I noticed when I pulled them off that it was still wet where they were sitting. I figured they would probably be ok for a while had I not found them.
  3. About a week ago I came home from work and sat in front of my tank for a few minutes just checking out all the cool things that go on in a reef tank when I look up in the top corner and there sits one of my margarita snails. On the outside of the glass! I was kinda puzzled and wondered why it got on the outside and if it knew how to get back in once it did. I figured I'd help him out and plucked him off the glass and placed him back inside the tank. A minute or so later off he went munchin away so I figured no damage was done. Yesterday, I am checkin out my tank again and what do I see but a snail (not sure if it was the same one) out of the tank! This time though he was on the outside of my PC light housing, so I guess he climed out and decided to scoot up the legs on my lights. Pulled this one off and again, no harm. It's kinda funny to me, but I don't want to miss one of these guys crawlin out one day on the back side of my tank or something then dyin and stinkin up my room. And here I thought I would have more trouble with my sixline wanting to carpet surf, guess its the snails that want out.
  4. you should be able to boil an egg in there soon.
  5. this sounds like an awesome idea. i'm not at all good, but man do i love a day out on the golf course.
  6. Don't forget some vendors sponsors give discounts to WAMAS members too!
  7. Do you need help with like the heavy lifting, something to store it in to move it, or another vehicle to help with the move? I might be free in the evening if you just need help with the moving, but i don't really have any containers and my car is a sports coupe.
  8. Here is a youtube video i just found. Doesnt look as big as the other one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvTFaTDPMSo I thought the blob fish and the isopod look the most unrealistic
  9. I know some specialty hardware stores do in my area. Friends of mine in high school would fill tanks for their paintball guns at one. Not sure about ashburn though.
  10. ^ lol whats with all the ex-wife hate on these forums lately?
  11. you mean crawl out from under the table and proceed to eat all the ribs, the chicken, and the potato salad...
  12. Some pretty neat sea creatures in this slide show i just found, among some other very odd lifeforms. Check out the giant isopod. I wish there was something in the photo to show the true scale of it, like a hand or something (although i wouldnt put my hand near that thing) http://www.foxnews.c...atures/#slide=1
  13. wow, never seen those before. pretty wild lookin creature.
  14. My physics may be a bit rusty so someone can correct me if I am wrong but using the Ideal Gas Law (PV=nRT) as your pressure drops inside a closed volume, your temperature will drop as well. Therefore drawing air out faster and creating a "negative pressure" inside your sealed box (semi-sealed, but close enough for the theory to work) will keep temperatures lower. The temp will therefore be increased in the opposite pressure situation. Now again this is all in theory as your box is not fully sealed nor is it an Ideal Gas, but it should be safe to make the assumption. Anyone want to confirm this for me?
  15. I use it on days I'm not feeding them frozen but I agree with darkcirca, the packets are big for a small fish load. I actually just use a little bit at a time and put the packet in a ziploc bag to use another day.
  16. Yeah it woke me up twenty minutes before my alarm and I'm all the way out in Warrenton. My tank is in my room and I just kept thinking "Earthquake + Fish Tank = Wet Floor and Loooooong Day" Luckily it wasn't too stong by me and stopped after about ten seconds.
  17. Another +1 to Scotts food. Bought some from him at Frag Fest and the fish are loving it, not that ive had an ich problem though (knock on wood...)
  18. Do you guys think there would be a problem if i put a layer of white sand on top of the black that I have now? I realize it defeats the purpose of having the black sand in the first place but maybe I could spread the white over it in patches or something for a different look. I would rather not empty out the black sand in there just to replace it all. Not sure if there is some sort of problem that would come up from this so I just want to make sure.
  19. Yeah I realized my black sand is magnetized the hard way... I at least noticed before i ran it across my glass, but its pretty much impossible to get all the sand and grit out of the pad. I removed most of it to be able to use it but it doesn't work as well anymore.
