  1. I have tons of the Water Weld in my tank holding the rock structure and various frags in place...its safe, sets up strong, and covers with coralline quickly. There's actually one spot where I tried to remove it and was unable to pry it off the rock. I'd say go for it.
  2. Are you using one of those kenko tubes? They are awesome, aren't they? Only thing is you have to turn off the AF and do it old school.
  3. The Silicone I product is fine I've used it many many times.
  4. Not sure what you mean by "near the city" since "near" is completely relative, especially in this area, but one of my favorite places in Rockville called Woodcraft does rent out shop time.
  5. IME, ASMs have a few days break in period when they're new, just been cleaned or have sat dry for a while. Also they perform better in less water than in more so I would suggest raising it an inch at a time on an eggcrate platform with lengths of pvc pipe for legs after you've given it four days to a week for break in. I also second what the previous poster said about checking the impeller to make sure you're getting full performance. As much as I like the ASMs, those sedra pumps suck. HTH.
  6. I can't actually remember a store specifically in St. Pete, but Marine Warehouse in Tampa is a great store. Also, when I lived there Reefs2go and TampaBay Saltwater used to let you come to their stores by appointment since they both focus mainly on mail order business and no longer do retail. I'm not sure if that's still true or not. There was also a place right over the causeway in Oldsmar that I used to stop by but I can't remember the name of it now...just the fish mural painted on the building's exterior. Have a fun trip...I miss home.
  7. Hey Zoltarblue...welcome to the WAMAS boards. Similar story here. Relocated here from Florida for work 3 years ago. I kept a 180 there which I also left behind. I'd promised myself I wasn't gonna go big again, but this hobby has a way of callin ya back and I'm already up to a 120. If there's anything I can do to help you get started again, I'll be happy to help though we're not that close. There are plenty of members down your way that will help point you in the right direction. BTW..gators or noles?
  8. I actually love Roozens. I find the place prototypically dutch. if you've spent any time in the Netherlands you know they are not the most service oriented culture in the world. Having said that, as stated above, it would seem that he has better access to unusual livestock than is commonly seen in this area. On top of that, the livestock quality is excellent and prices are reasonable. I have never personally experienced a case of ich from livestock purchased at Roozens.
  9. I have one for a 1.5" also with plenty of life you can borrow, but I'm in MD. I also need to borrow one for a 1" hole.
  10. Wow, ask a question and then pull up a soap box. However, in fairness, your question is a little vague since Prodibio makes a line of products and you did not specify which one(s) you are using. Is it the biodigest? In which case, to answer your question specifically, since the point of the Biodigest is to diversify the bacteria strains and has nothing to do with the carbon dosing itself per se, then I would suggest that no, you would not alter the dosing amount of the vodka. If however, your are using Bioptim as a previous poster suggested, this product acts as the carbon source and therefore, vodka would be redundant and unnecessary.
  11. the best thing I ever learned in 25 years in this hobby is erythromycin for cyano. Dosed only one time, according to directions on the box (1 packet per 10-20 gal) and cyano is gone within 3 days. No deleterious effects to fish, inverts, corals or the bio filter living on live rock. I do a double water change on the 4th day (for me that's 20%) and then stay on schedule with regular water changes. There are actually good reasons for why it works and why its safe for reef systems but I'll leave that up to you and google to discover. Good luck.
  12. Oh wow..I didn't realize there was ever anything in MD...when was the last one?
