  1. so i went out and bought a new master test kit and just test my water amonia o nitrite 0 nitrate 0 i was soooooooo stress for the longest time because the orginal test kit was telling me my water was all messed up. man it cost $2 for these little nickel size hermit crab, I need a cleaner crew for my 92 gallon tank where can I get a cheap clean up crew?
  2. so i bout a bubble tip anemone last night and put it in my tank about about 7pm, now i come home and my clarkii is hostin it. i'm glad this relationship formed real quick. this is what i have in my tank, clarkii clown 2 blue damsels yellow tail damsel 2 peppermint shrimp, one of them had eggs on it when i bought it but i haven't seen it since i put it in my tank, i've only seen the other one diamond back goby sand sifting starfish and like 6 nickel size cleaner hermit crabs this is about a month old tank
  3. i buy the water from Superpetz in annandale. maybe the testing kit is messed up?
  4. 92 gallon reef ready corner tank witha 20gallon sump, i was thinking about just puttin a wad of macroe algae in the sump tank with a light and call it a day.
  5. i used 80lbs of live sand mixed with 70lbs of regular arogonite sand
  6. when i first set up my tank i put 100lbs of live rock that was previously in a well established tank, it had good corraline all over.
  7. well i think what happened to my water change water was that i kinda dipped my dirty filter sock in the container to cleanse off some dirt, maybe contamination? well today i rinsed out that container and put fresh RO/DI water and salt. so this time i won't contaminate the water change water. :(
  8. well yes, I've strictly been only using and buying R0/DI water. I am aware of the nitrogen cycle, I think I might do a 20% water change tonight? let me know if I should or not. kinda weird that there's readings in all contents.
  9. its been about a month, why are there still readings in ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate?
  10. my water change water has more ammonia in it than the fish tank, the same nitrate content though
  11. i just tested my water, so it reads ammonia 0.25 nitrite 0.1 nitrate 5 these are the same reading i've had for a couple of weeks, is this right?
  12. ?
  13. okay, so I have live sand in my fish tank with live rock that all has good coraline algae all over it from a previously established tank. Can I just add macroe algae in the tank, and that'll kind of act as the refugium itself?
  14. so i can't put any cleaner creatures in there just yet right?
  15. okay so these are picture that were taken justa few minutes ago. just want everyone to check out whats going on with my fish tank. the green algae is starting to really take over in my tank, and if you look closely on the picture with the close up on the rock, there seems to be some dark brown lumps on the rocks and i saw a small brown spot inside the glass tank. should i go ahead and put like hermit crabs, snails, etc to start cleaning up the tank? and thats my sump setup, tank water feeds into the filter sock along with polyfilter right below the sock, then the other side of the sump is my skimmer, chiller and pump. well give me a lot of feed back please. let me know if this is suppose to look like this. started the tank on march 6th.
  16. looking at my fish tank, I see more green algea not really so much of the brown diatoms. I hope this isn't wrong, what happened to the brown stuff? How long does the diatom bloom normally take?
  17. I would like to get some clowns. I just started my fish tank about two weeks ago. Let me know if you would like to donate to my tank lol
  18. okay, but since I'm cycling my tank, I'm not suppose to do any water changes right?
  19. yesterdays test ammonia 0.25 nitrite 0.1 nitrate 5
  20. okay so this is what my water test right now, ammonia o.25 nitrite 0.1 nitrate 10 is this right?
  21. I thought water changes when cycling a new tank will slow down the process? And for the skimmer, I thought I read somewhere that it is not suppose to be on while cycling so the bacteria can do its thing quicker or something? Ditching the sock, I thought I was suppose to have some type of pre-filter? I'm so confused
  22. Am I suppose to have my potein skimmer off when cycling my tank?
  23. So after observing my tank. I see little green hair like algae growing on my sand, tank glass, and rocks. What is this? Is this a part of the diatom blooms I'm suppose to be getting when cycling the tank?
  24. So what do I do? leave the shrimp in there?
  25. Yeah I thought it was better to wait for the cycling process to be done before i start doing water changes? I'm located in Alexandria,VA. So i just dumped a bunch of live brine shrimp in to feed my fishes, most of the shrimp ended up in the filter sock I have, what should I do? take the filter out and shake all the shrimp back in the tank?
