  1. No flooding yet. We're under a flood watch until Friday, because of the massive amount of runoff. On a sadder note, even though I kept the temp up and had battery powered air pumps, I lost a Chevron Tang, Coral Beauty, and Chalk Basslet. I'm pretty bummed. Anybody else lose anything?
  2. Bell Haven, just south of Old Town.
  3. Lost power for 15 hours in Alexandria. I can't believe they have it back on already this morning.
  4. When I added a mag 5 to my system it raised the average operating temp about 2 degrees in a ~140 gallon system.
  5. I'd send a PM to Adam from Artfully Acrylic to see what he thinks.
  6. Adam, I don't know if you've found anything, but you may consider a storage unit to use as a workshop. Many of the large storage facilities have units setup for power, lighting, and climate control. Probably worth a look.
  7. Swffan, where are you located? I've done this process a few times.
  8. Not sure why, but I am completely unable to keep mystery wrasses alive. They usually die the first or second day. Give me something difficult like a leopard wrasse or tilefish and its no problem. All that said, I'm jealous, because the mystery wrasse is my favorite fish.
  9. Are you parting out or selling things individually? Also, you need to add a price or prices.
  10. Ryan, have you received the Plusrite bulbs yet? What do you think of the colors?
  11. 10000K bulbs don't always grow brown corals. http://reefbuilders.com/2012/09/05/welles-beijing/
  12. Also, this is a bit like complaining that a new model of phone or laptop comes out every year.
  13. If the current Radions are growing coral just fine and people like them, what's the point of upgrading? People didn't change MH ballasts every year. I imagine the people that will upgrade/buy new are the same people that lease a new car every year.
  14. Ryan, this has been my experience. I think survival of very small frags cut from newly imported wild colonies is hit or miss. I've had very minimal losses from locally aquacultured frags, but lose about 10-15% of small wild frags.
  15. Anybody know of a local source for crushed oyster shell? I'm planning to make some DIY rock.
  16. Why would he replace it every couple of years?
  17. Nevermind I found it. Hyatt Regency in Crystal City if anybody was wondering.
  18. Was it hosted at the convention center?
  19. Dpreview.com has good buyer guides.
  20. Basically I think they've taken the light that would spill out of the sides and onto the glass of the aquarium and focused it allowing them to claim the same 24" spread, but increasing intensity. Technically the spread is diminished, but in application not many people grow corals on the glass.
  21. If the original lenses are 120 degrees or more and the new lenses are in the 80-90 degree range then it makes perfect sense to me. Basically recapturing a lot of "lost" light. Spread would be minimally impacted at the bottom of the tank.
  22. 16 T5's seem reasonable on a tank that is ~3.5 feet front to back. Can't argue with the results for sure.
  23. BRK had two that were nicer than this a couple of weeks ago. Not sure what the price is/was or if they are still there.
  24. Ryan, this is the manifold that feeds everything from my Eheim 1262 return on my 120. I can explain more if you have any questions.
  25. Ryan, I'd buy a frag or the colony of the red candy cap if you decide to do anything with it. Nbgen, pm me, I have one large frag and one small frag of orange cap you can have if you're interested. Let me know. Sorry for the OT post.
