I have been on vacation for two weeks and a friend was watching my house and fish. I returned and all were still alive in my tank ( my friend is not a fish person). I do not clean the sides or back of my tank and have some great growth. When I got back I have brown "stringy" growth on my sides. The tank not me. I will post pics when I get a chance. Any ideas. Should I scrape and vacuum the sides?

Unfortunately I think It may be the later of those ideas. Any suggestions of what would be a good replacement for my 10 gallon tank?

I seem to be loosing water power on my out flow of my Ehiem canister filter. Any ideas of why?

My salinity is at 1.027. All other perams. are right on including Ca at 420. I am sure it is the hammer (mean guy). I went in last night and the sweeper was right where the coral used to be. I have moved it to a safer location. Will have to wait and see. Thanks for the info

My temp never gets higher than 81 and I have the lights on a timer. On for 8 hours a day. The hammer could get to it, I think. Thanks for the advice and I will keep a close eye on it.

Here is a pic of my lil' micromussa that I got about three weeks ago. I had it upper part of my ten gallon tank that has two of these lights http://www.aquarium-supply.biz/Coralife_Aq..._p/res58020.htm Here is a pic of the tank, coral in ? is to left of the hammer (small frag) This morning I got up and saw that part of it was bleached. I moved it to the sand and here is a close up of it. I didn't think I could bleach anything with these lights. Any ideas? Thanx

Should I clean my power head when it has algae built up on it?

Thanks! I know, but the mind of a five year old girl is "out there". If it makes her happy and it will not hurt the tank then what the heck.

I am thinking about getting a 24 gal nano cube for a very cheap price. Does anybody know what filtration mods and lighting mods I will have to make? I was told there might be a thread about this.

Thanx for the info. I rigged up something to get water flow in the spots I need as well as surface movement. I work in the medical field so I brought home some suction tubing used for surgery. I cut the tubing long enough so I could run it part way along the top back of the tank. I punched a series of holes to direct the water flow. I then put a cap on one end and the other end fit perfectly into my ehiem output tube. I ran this along the back of the tank even with the water . Great water movement and I have flow from other hole pointing at my hammer coral. I will post a pic when I get a chance. I think this may work well. SO here is not so good pic of what I did. You can see the clear tubing fro the green eheim tube. You really can't see the holes but you can see the water movement.

How important is surface water flow in my 10 gal tank?

Thanx for the info Can I cap the end of my out flow and drill holes in the eheim out flow? or will this cause back flow into my container?

New to the hobby, about six months. Not sure what a spray bar is or how to plumb it, nor do I know what a SCWD is. Sorry for ignorance but I LOVE to learn. Can you learnicate me And yes it is a canister.

So, as a few people told me I moved my star coral to make it it's own island. Now that I moved things i do not have enough water flow for my hammer coral. Being it is only a 10 gal tank I do not want to add another power head. Below is a very bad diagram of how the tank is now(I can't take a pic my daughter is in bed,tank in her room). Any suggestions, please help! :cheers:I should mention I have an Eheim filter 145 gal/hour(its for a 60 gal tank)

"Must stop buying coral" After getting three corals for the price of one from AquaCo I fragged my mushroom for a friend who in return gave me a big piece of starburst coral. I think I will stop know and watch things grow.
