Great post Isaac. Like you Im no expert but I found some pretty good info I thought I would share. Anyone think any of this is wrong - let me know and I will stop propagating it ;o) The follow list also provides the same info on the life cycle that Isaac posted above. It also gave more info I thought was worth sharing. I'm no expert by any means but I found this article very informative - dispelling some of the myths that look to me to have come from the Fresh water ich which has similar symptoms but is not the same parasite. I had dealt with fresh water ich in the past but I definitely learned from several of the links below. Myths False - It is always in the tank. - It take a long time to get rid of thats why it appears to always be in the tank. Both links below support this. False - Fresh water ich is the same as marine ich. This is not the same as the freshwater disease, Ich (Ichthyophthirius multifilis) but it was named after it. False - Marine Ich can be killed by raising the temperature - marine ich is not very sensitive to temperature changes - cycle time will change but unlike fresh water ich, you cant kill it with higher temperatures. False - The spot appears and disappears - my fish is cured! Spots appear then disappear as MI goes through its cycle Myths and Facts http://www.reefsanctuary.com/forums/fish-diseases-treatments/23132-marine-ich-myths-facts.html http://www.chucksaddiction.com/ich.html Curing Marine Ich http://www.reefsanctuary.com/forums/fish-diseases-treatments/52236-curing-fish-marine-ich.html

While I'm not exackty new to WAMAS or fish keeping, I have kept a low profile and have not done much on the forum. Since I am completely addicted to salt tanks, all it goodness and it pocket emptyingness, I thought I would introduce myself and show you all my tanks. My wife is also getting into it and us encouraging it a bit which is awesome except she says we can not sell any of the fish cause the are family. That will be interesting over time. Also she wants a ray and has said we should get a ray tank. Need to save up some money to go there and find a spot fo it. Anyway I am in Arlington and I'm on the board a lot. I have had a nano for over 6 years - wow didn't realize it was that long ago - when I got my Wamas membership. It was FOWLR hence why I was not as active. Now I have a second nano (24g and 28 gal) and setup my125 gal earlier this year. Finally, I have been putting thing in the tank and attended my first meeting. Great meeting. Great people on the board. Great vendors. I hope I can contribute to the board. Any one. In my neck of the woods pm me and we can meet. I have would love to see your tanks and would be willing to show you mine - along with pointers. I'm new to corals and I'm hooked, though I still like fish more and don't know much about corals. I have been fish keeping for over 15 years mostly free water cichlids. I have breed all kinds of cichlids so I can help anyone there. Now I have one 30 gal tank with 7-8 plecos and some guppies. Been wanting to do discus but now like the easy of them to focus more on my saltwater tanks. So that's my history. I work for the government, like soccer (especially Messi), hiking, traveling, scuba diving and occasionally golfing. My 125 gal. Queen angel and two black ice clowns. GBTA, leathers, a few frags, a bunch of Palys, and few emerald crabs. My 24 gal nano with mh & cf lights - bw clowns pair and two cardinal s Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

Best way to connect three tanks on two different floors?
FrontosaTony replied to FrontosaTony's topic in New to the Hobby
DJplus - I was thinking I needed two pumps also. Think peristaltic would be good too, to handle any head pressure. Concern is reliability of that pump to constantly run. gmerek - thanks for the offer! I would seriously love to come see. I have an empty 90 I was going to make a QT tank, I probable could do the elevated thing with it - turning it into my sump. problem is then another pump to get the water into the 90 from the 125. What pump and what size lines do you use? I would really like to be able to use 1/8 airline due to the head, distance and ease of getting it through the floor/wall to get it upstairs. - hence me thinking peristaltic pumps. I was also considering elevated sump the 90 and only attach the two upstairs tanks. Less distance less head, one pump and two overflows? or two pumps - one in one out. dang - I cant wrap my head around it and ought to be able to. Seeing may be the answer. Id totally come down for a looks see. Also, any one near Arlington have a setup like Im talkng that I could take a look at / discuss with? Isaac? Thanks for the help / suggestions!!!!! Love WAMAS!!!!! and the folks on here. -

Isaac - To free me up of buckets, give greater stability to my Nanos with larger amounts of water, and ease my ability to care of tanks on vacations. Great, what kind of pump? Suggestion? -
Thanks for all the thoughts and advice. I have had fish tanks for over 15 years but have only been doing salt about 3-4 years. I have a125 gal with LR, small angel and Two clowns. I have some snails and crabs. I have had smaller tanks, 30, 24, 28 gal salt tanks until I setup the 125. The smaller tanks were Fowlr. I set the125 up earlier this year but used much of the LR I had going for a couple years in one of my smaller tanks. The 125 is setup with a litermeter auto W/C daily, ~4 gal week + ato. I don't have a lot of LR, about 1/2 way up full length. I only have a couple leathers, zoos and a couple new frags. It's seems to need a nice big piece of something and I really like the look of the carpet. I was seeing what's out there. Thanks for all the advice.

I really like the look and color of carpet anemone but reading some websites indicate they can be dangerous, eat bigger fish, etc. I wanted to put one in my 125 for my occellaris clown pair. How hard are the to take care of? Are there specific types that are less dangerous? Any other concerns Where can I buy/order one? The red and blue here look really cool- but not $900 cool. :0) http://www.aquacon.com/anemone.html Thanks Tony

I have a 30 gal sump on my 120 gal tank and Im looking to put a filter sock on it. My plan was to use a nylong an rubber band but I have not done that yet. Do people use filter socks? Any recommendation on what kind / where to buy them? Do you rotate them? How often tdo you clean them? What kind of connection to the outlet? Thanks Tony

So I got a Litermeter III, a remote pump and ato module. Im looking to use it to do auto water changes for 3 tankls and ato for one tank. I think I know how to do it for one tank. Im looking for some help setting it up. Do I need another remote pump? If I got another remote pump, can I use it to change the water from two tanks abotu the same size by using a Tee in the supply/return line. Looking for the answers before I set anything up so I dont have to do it twice. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tony
