These are surely clown babies. I only have a goby and a wrasse in addition to the 2 clowns. They must have laid eggs and I never saw them. The babies are in a crevice, and I cannot get a decent picture, only a blur! Here are the parents and the babies:

Yippie! My clowns mated and there are a bunch of small tadpole like fish in the tank! I will read up on feeding them, but just wanted to share. The funny part is that the two clowns are not the same type, one is a fire clown (Amphiprion ephippium) and the others a common tomato clown.

Hi I have an Aquapod 24 and it gets hot. I did some reading and found that the JBJ is much better wrt heat, since it has external ballasts. The JBJ has 2 fans by default. The Aquapod come with one, but you can add another, which helps tremendously. If you do or plan to do any mods to the canopy, keep me in the loop, as I really want to cut a part of the hood to allow a tzune skimmer to fit, but an not sure I can do a neat job.

Hi I bought the Prime water conditioner because it states that it can detoxify nitrates. It seems to be a good thing, and does not make the skimmer froth up. Before I use it, is there anything I am missing? Here is the official FAQ http://www.seachem.com/support/FAQs/Prime_faq.html Thanks

I have an update from Coralife/Current Usa reps. They think that the culprit is the Coralife Digital Timer that I am using "As a suggestion, you may want to do a search on ReefCentral regarding those Coralife Timers

I also have 2 coralife power timers, a coralife light (2 years old but good condition - got used from wamas member), a coralife skimmer, a coralife aquapod ... lots of accidents waiting to happen!

Hi I would like to emphasize to all readers that checking your electrical connections, adapters and cables every month or so is a great idea. I recently avoided a potential hazard, and wanted to share this with all. A cleaning of salt spray lead me to check all the gazillion wires in my sump since I bought ties and wanted to make the wires manageable, and I found that one power brick was in the process of MELTING. This power adapter powers my moonlights. It is a Coralife modular moonlight with one power supply and 4 modules. When I touched it, it was HOT! So I took it off. As a note, I contacted Coralife and they indicate that "the system is all low voltage so there is no risk of fire", but I am not using that moonlight again.

You are right, normally i top off with freshwater, but I am trying wet skimming, so I put back saltwater. This puts out a light yellow skimmate, but in quite a large quantity, not sure its better, but the manual with the superskimmer talked about it, so I gave it a try.

Thanks a ton Guy. I have 5 gallons form my unit and 15 from you and just added salt and am just airing and mixing it now! Enough for topoff tub and a water change! Yippie!

I had a feeling that would be the case, I am glad I posted the question, I just couldn't remember which water I had used once in the past. Thanks! Hi Can I swing by sometime in the evening to pickup the water from you? Also, if there is a possibility to pickup the fish while I am there, that would be great! Do PM me your address and phone. Thanks a ton for the offer!

Hi My ro unit only puts out 10 gpd and I need to change the water tonight. I have deer park spring bottled water. Can this be used for water changes? If not, I may have to run the to water store and buy water. Thanks!

Hi I had a skimmer for my Aquapod 24, it was the Current skimmer. I never got it to work, so i started using resin pads "Poly Filters" http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod...cfm?pcatid=4335 They work, but when I pull them out, a lot of gunk falls back in! So, are members here using skimmers on nano tanks with success? I have the factory hood. Any other ideas/brand recommendation for skimming? Thanks

Hi I do have a UV running on it and just changed bulbs 1 month ago jut to be sure. When you say day cycle, should I keep the atinics on for the same periods and reduce the time the daylight lights run? There seems to be a lot of discussion on the high noon photoperiod where people use metal halides for only a 3-4 hour period, is this the path you suggest? Thanks

Hi I have 4 65 watt bulbs on a 55 gallon tank. I have green hair algae that has stopped spreading, but still is there, and greed diatom algae (due to low ph?) The photo period is 10 hours and I am considering reducing down to only 2 65 watt bulbs. Any thoughts? Thanks

EXCELLENT idea!! A simple trick, but i think that this will do! I'll post results when I try it out. Thanks!

Hi rioreef I just came to the same conclusion, and i'm stuck, since i only have a 10 gallon sump, and raising the water level to 4 more inches makes the pump work great without air, but my sump will overflow if the pump is cut off (during feeding). I just don't know what to do. I will try a valve, but then what would be th use of a more powerful pump? Thanks for the help. I'm gonna eat dinner and then attach a valve.

Hi I just put in a mag 9 pump in place of a mag 5 in my sump and I am having a few problems. The intake "sucks" air like a tornado and spits out tons of bubbles into the tank. Any ideas? Please post today, since I will probably re-pipe my mag 5 before calling it a night. Will a prefilter sponge work? Thanks

Cleaning corroded electrical contacts
albatross666 replied to albatross666's topic in General Discussion
Hi The MG Chemicals liquid seems very good, and exactly what I need. I did go to advnce auto parts and they have a spay cleaner for electrical parts too. Relatively inexpensive at $4. Has you used any of these in the past? Also, the baking soda, I just make a paste with water and rub it with a cloth or q-tip? Thanks -
Hi How can i clean corroded electrical contacts (both DC and AC). Some of my AC plugs have this white / bluish build on them, and often, the power to the devices is lost. This is believe is a simple one, since in the worst case, I can use some sand paper. But, I have the same issue with my modular moonlights, and the DC "jacks" have corrosion built into them now. Its there a spray or something else that can eat up the corrosion. Essentially, each of 4 modules plud into one another through an extension wire, and almost all of the jacks have corrosion in them and the lights do not fire up. Thanks

Hi You can borrow my extra proaquatic / hydor auto fish feeder. I also have an auto top off, but am weary about droping it in the mail. Its a great Tunze top off. But I am also on a small break that week. I am in Germantown, MD. If you want to cover to and fro shipping, and keep it for a week, you can PM me. I also have a double daily feeder as well. Its not digital, but works! It does not attach to acrylic tanks, so you need a glass tank. Let me know.

Hi I had unfortunately reached that conclusion too. More wires! But it seems odd that there is a slot for the 2nd fan, but no power source. Thanks!
