Gen-x mak 4 is a lot of pump for the money. I have one on each of my tanks (125 & 120) The one of the 125 is 3.5 year old, running 24/7 365 & never a problem. Skimmer - come to symposium - in raffle will be a My Reef Creations MR2 & 2 $75 gift certs from them. Trying to get some others if euro-reef will ever respond back to me. Sounds like you have time to wait and see if you win prizes since you said you had 1-2 months until you get tank. Euro-reef is real simple to operate. They cost more up front, but take less electric to operate. I have aerofoamer on my 125 (becket style) and euro-reef on my 120. Both work well. Circulation - should be sea-swirl in symposium raffle too. :D Start watching for sale adds here and on RC and you might find a lot of used parts you need cheap.
-
1) what is history of tank - did anyone ever use copper to treat fish or disease in the tank 2) please describe water circulation, filtration units (hang-on; what pads used) 3) do you use Prime water conditioner when you top off with tap water? Most city water has chloramin (sp?) added to it. Over time it builds up as toxic amonia. Thus, most folks do not use tap for salt systems. You seem to have spent a small amount of cash of fish, I think you might be better off saving up and buying a RO unit or some type of filter. here are a few sources for units: http://www.aquaticreefsystems.com/ http://www.inreef.com http://www.waterfiltersonline.com try running some good reef carbon to try to help remove any toxic stuff.
-
What BRAND of test kits are you using? what type of water are you using - tap, RO, RO/DI; How old are filters. Salt brand - What are you using to test salinity? I had old swing-arm tester that was off about .07 vs. my refractometer. odd when chromis die - could be store you buy from

******** ALL FISH AND CORALS NOW 10% OFF!! ********* Hello All! The new 75 gallon reef display is starting to look more like a reef. There are a few corals and hermit crabs running around in there now. We are still looking for part time help on the weekend, send or bring in your work history to apply. We are selling the metal halide fixture above our main 150 gallon reef display for $400. The fixture is a 2 x 250w 10k mogul base metal halide with florescent actinic back up bulbs. The bulbs are only eight months old. WHAT'S NEW New in the fish department we have an extra large Falco Hawkfish, a Snowflake Eel, a baby Porcupine Puffer and two extra large Domino Damsels. There are a couple of Rose Anemones available. And something we don't always have, Blue Tuxedo Urchins. There is a nice selection of Jumbo Dusters now available as well. WHAT'S ON SALE The Atlantic Aquacultured Live Rock is now 20% off. Tonga Ridge live rock is marked down to $5.99 per pound with no minimum. Button Colony live rock is 20% off. Every fish and coral in the store is now 10% off. DID YOU KNOW? Did you know that the average life span of most fish in the wild is several years? Most of the fish that we keep in our home aquariums would live anywhere from one year to twenty five years in the wild. Some fish may live even longer than average in captivity due to the absence of predators and food competition. In order to raise a fish into old age you need to provide ideal environmental conditions for it. This includes water quality, stress, food source and aquarium size. Do you know how old your fish are? T.G.I.F! See you this weekend! -Kristen Lau The Marine Scene Assistant Manager Retail Sales 293 Sunset Park Drive Herndon, Virginia 20170 703.689.2815 www.marinescene.com

The Pittsburgh Marine Aquarium Society is planning a Bus road trip down for the symposium. I'm sure they will have lots of frags they will want to trade. Come to the symposium and get some new corals for your tank that come from outside the Washington region From PMASI website: http://www.pmas.org/futureevents.htm June Meeting (6-19-04) "June's meeting will be held on Saturday, June 19th. Adam Cesnales will be presenting a talk and slide show on the identification and care of Soft Corals and Xeniids. This is a week earlier than normal to facilitate a club road trip to Washington DC and Baltimore to attend the WAMAS Symposium and to tour the National Aquarium in Baltimore, the following weekend (June 26,27). The road trip to DC/Baltimore will leave Pittsburgh either on Friday, June 25 in the evening or very early on Saturday, June 26 depending on member feedback. We will return at a a reasonable time on Sunday evening. A form will be included in the May newsletter to sign up for the trip. PMASI will provide group transportation to the event and back, including a meal on the bus each way. Exact costs are to be determined, but should be available by the time the newsletter is sent out." Symposium looks like it is going to be a awesome event!! wav]] [nana]
