  1. my sixline disappeared about a year ago.. i believe he either got crushed when we moved rock or just died in the rockwork somewhere. never found him :( but when he was gone the little feather dusters started to grow again (he ate them all before hah)
  2. i am in NW DC and would like to see some tanks to get ideas and info before mine is actually put together (collecting parts now and putting it together around April/May) PM me if there is anything in the DC/Chevy Chase/Bethesda area ! Joe
  3. ... counting down the days until I can put in my first corals ... Probably going to need some more equipment first... and water haha
  4. I have a Diamond Watchman Goby (http://liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=220) in my tank in Cleveland and he is probably my favorite fish. Loves to move the sand around and dig holes for himself but I have never seen him bother another inhabitant. Only worry would be rocks falling due to the digging and the water got cloudy when he first got in there, but he cleared up any minor algae growth on the top of the sand so I didn't have to siphon it out! 5. Really? I was always under the impression that in a nano this size you would have to almost constantly refill the water to keep the parameters withing acceptable levels. What kind of HOB filter is it? Just a basic $30 filter like you would use on a freshwater tank? Also, how much did the lighting cost and where did you get it? This seems like an incredibly cost-effective way to set up a tank! It looks great and really is something I'll have to try sometime!
  6. I use a big rubbermaid trash can at home but with the size restrictions you could probably use a rubbermaid (or similar) tub. looking for a picture now... http://rubbermaid.com/rubbermaid/product/p...Id=HPProd150036 thats sorta what I am thinking. 50 gallon bin -Joe
  7. When I set up my first tank, I bought around 150#LR from someone local who actually brought it over and gave me their extra salt buckets! It wasn't crawling with stuff like if I had bought it from somewhere like TBS, but it was around $1.50/lb and had a good amount of coralline on it already. My tank barely cycled with that and some LS from another local person. It had a ton of bacteria already established and only had some dieoff for the first week. If I had the $ I would get some from TBS just because it really is fascinating what can come in on that rock. I feel like you could put that in and be happy watching just the rock without adding anything else! -Joe
