  1. PS this really sucks haha. Don't even like looking at the tank like this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks guys. Gonna try to pick up some hermits and turbos. Figure it can't hurt. Water is rodi and 0 coming out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. My 60g cube is about 6 months old and green hair algae is trying to take over my tank. I only have 2 clowns and a midas blenny so its not overstocked. I feed somewhat sparingly though it might have been slightly overfed during my vacation about a month and a half ago. Here are the steps I've taken so far: 1) upgraded skimmer (about a week ago) 2) started a fuge with macroalgae (almost 3 weeks ago) 3) started running about 8 tbsp of standard GFO from BRS (yesterday) 4) kept up with weekly or bi-weekly water changes while trimming back GHA with scissors and trying to scoop it out 5) cut back on feeding 6) bought a standard hanna phosphate checker (reads 0 but I assume its all being consumed) The only other thing I was considering was adding some clean-up crew to help or a fish that might eat some. Right now my clean up crew is about a dozen cerith snails and a few nassarius snails that don't seem to do anything. The macro and green hair algae both seem to be growing strong but I'll see if the GFO starts helping soon hopefully. Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Phil
  4. This saturation goes to 11! I'm also curious what it would look like under normal lights without any post editing.
  5. It was these! I thought I was hitting the inside of the pipe before with the skewer but it must have been caked up with some hard salt. All is good now. Thanks all! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. It's mocking me with its suction noise from the other room! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Hm ok. It's not just a little louder though it's a loud suction noise. I'm thinking maybe the lid isn't fitting on perfectly letting it suck in a little air instead of creating a full siphon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Yep. I tried this as well. Used some skewer sticks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I have a 1500gph overflow that was running silent for months. I used some black mesh netting (forget the name) to muffle the sound on the interior sides of the box and all was good. I pulled it all out to clean it and removed the lid inside the box. I've tried packing it tight/loose and every combination but can't get it to be quiet again after replacing it! Any suggestions? 10. Nice! What camera/lens did you use for the photos? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I have a zeovit reactor I'd be willing to sell cheap if you're interested. One of the seals needs to be re-done but I don't think it'd be that difficult. FYI, I didn't use it just got it as part of a full setup purchase.
  12. Hope you find good homes for all your livestock!
  13. Yep love that tank! It was part of what made me want a cube. I don't think I'll be investing quite as much into lighting as he did though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    FTS

    From the album: 60g cube

  16. So here's an updated FTS I took the other day. I'm looking for advice on what fish to get next. Everything has done well with the exception of the first royal gramma who seemed ok for a day or 2 then disappeared never to be seen again. His replacement has faired much better. Currently I have: 2 ocellaris clowns 1 royal gramma Fish I'm considering: Midas blenny (really want this one) goby/shrimp pair green chromis firefish wrasse (suggestions?)
  17. I bought the same camera Friday as well! I downloaded the 30 day Lightroom trial from Adobe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Who won the drawing? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. My mistake. Yes the drain lines. I guess it's the "return" to the sump. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Hm those are what I was referring to when I said I cleaned the standpipes. Wrong terminology? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I used a skewer to clean out the stand pipe but it was pretty clear. Would it help to add another at the lower elbow right before it empties into the sump? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I've had my tank setup for a few months and I was pretty happy with the noise level for the return line. I have a 60g cube with a glassholes 1500gph return. I had both return lines going about 3 or 4" below the waterline in the sump. I was reading some random threads on another forum and it seemed like most people only had them 1/2" or so below the water line in the sump. I decided to cut mine to about 1 or 2" below the water line as well and now one line is louder than before. I guess I couldn't just leave fine alone. A few questions: 1) Is there any risk to having the return lines run significantly below the water line in the sump? If there isn't I might replace the flex hose I cut at the end with a longer piece again to reduce the noise. 2) Also one return line shakes some (I'm guessing based on the angles of the return) is that normal? Thanks!
  23. Coincidentally I was looking this up as well and was leaning towards the D3300. If I see any deals pop up I'll post them.
  24. Very nice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Also interested in knowing this.
