How does a Coral Beauty do with filamentous algae? Are they pretty good grazers? I've tried lawnmower blennies, but can't seem to find one that will eat the hair algae, and can't seem to keep a sea hare alive for more than a couple of weeks.

Do not have any hair algea since I got Tomini tang. This little guy leaves all rocks very clean. :)

I'm not sure about the angel though...

My coral beauty grazes all day long. Though I don't believe he ever touches the algae. I personally wouldn't get one with the goal of algae consumption in mind. As mentioned, I think a tang is a better suggestion.

Garrett.

Yes, tang much better but my CB hang out with the tangs so she glazes quite a bit, but I would definitely go with the tang though!

Hmmm, thanks for the replies everyone. I'll have to keep a lookout for a healthy small tang. The two yellow tangs at the LFS both have some sort of disease...pale yellow with big bumps all over their sides.

check with Don a.k.a. TriBui he is selling a 4" Yellow tang for $30.

I also have a Coral Beauty (over a year) and besides eating everything that is put into the tank, he cares less for the hair algae. I rather have a tang for algae controll.
