Have you used additives to speed up the cycling process? If so please post your recommendations.

Thanks a lot,

Unni

Unni,

Are you starting all over again? Welcome back!

I have tried it. Can't remember the name but it was the stuff that has to be kept refrigerated. I don't think it did any harm but I would probably not do it again. At best I think it's just unnecessary. I think you get all of the bacteria you need just by adding live rock. If you really want a bacterial bloom, just add some fresh, uncured stuff :lol2:

I think you are referring to Bio-Spira by Marineland. I do not use any of the miracle products to jump start tanks--most of 'em are pure junk. If I had to use something in an emergency though, it would be Bio-Spira.

I have used SeaChem Stability in the past...do not really know if it really worked considering I also added 75lbs of LR and 40lbs of LS :-)

Any one carry this locally?

Unni

Unni, no one should be stocking it as it is an item that ships directly from the lab the day it is bottled. I do have one gallon in my fridge that I used to jump start my koi filters in the spring, it did work well on the ammonia, but not so much on the nitrite.

John,

I believe they only have a refrigerator life of 3 months.

All,

Thank you very much for your suggestion.
