ReefAddict October 13, 2019 Share October 13, 2019 Does diffusing essential oils have negative impact like candles and air fresheners? My wife has been diffusing on the main level and the tank is in the basement. Recently my giant birdsnest is starting to RTN and all my parameters are in line. paul b October 13, 2019 Share October 13, 2019 I doubt there is any scientific research on this, but my opinion is No. Unless you are doing this near the tank or she is diffusing so much that you need to put on windshield wipers
BtmDweller October 14, 2019 Share October 14, 2019 My wife diffuses peppermint oil. The corals seem to love it. What’s your alk/ca?
ReefAddict October 16, 2019 Author Share October 16, 2019 Alk 8.3 (Hannah Checker) Calcium 450 (Salifert) Everything else is doing great. I was debating removing all the birdsnest and replacing with more acros anyway. I think my tank is just helping me make my decision lol.
BtmDweller October 17, 2019 Share October 17, 2019 Maybe check the alk against a salifert test kit. Just in case. Also, assuming paras have been stable and no change to flow or light. That’s odd though, especially if you’ve had the coral awhile. If the birds nest is having trouble, likely other acros will as well. If you can convince to diffuse in another room maybe worth the experiment, good luck with that. Still likely not the cause.
