Dips

I’m googling and I’m not getting the answer I’m looking for. 

 

Lets say say a piece of coral has velvet cysts or ich or brook whatever. Will using a coral dip on that coral kill those cysts/eggs?, for future reference. Knowledge is power and I’m paranoid about diseases since the velvet thing 2 years ago. 

 

4 more weeks til I get a fishy I can do this lol by the time I get a fish in there I’m gonna get bit by the “I want a bigger tank” bug. It’s already biting since I saw that free 80lbs of dry rock. I deffinatly have room for a nice big 200G AIO 

maybe I’ll hit dc reefer up with that leaky one I’m handy maybe I can fix it.

While it seems theoretically possible to get velvet or ich from a coral frag chances are surely extremely low as those illnesses aren't hosted by coral.  Lots of people like to break off the frag plug and only install the live coral into their tank by gluing it to the rock rather than  putting the plug in there.  The plug serves no purpose in your display and is only meant to hold it in a frag rack, plus it can have pests, aiptasia, other stuff, so get rid of it to be safer.  

 

I don't know the answer to whether or not coral dips would kill fish diseases, but I'd give it a solid maybe. 8)
