Help with Tank move........AGAIN!! August 19th

Recommended Posts

Carl,

There is only going to be 4 of us. What is this stand made out of anyway??

Oh #$%&.....I just saw your 55g thread. H-E-double hocky sticks, we'll get it moved somehow. By the way, how far are we moving this thing??

4 inch steal, he made a boat stand that'll double as a tank stand LOL!

It is currently on a trailer in my driveway. It should be easy to push the trailer down to the back door of the house...Then the hard part begins.

It is made out of steel, and I think the largest of the 4 pieces is around 550-600 pounds. Issue is, I have a wood floor in the basement, and freshly painted walls that I hope I don't have to touch up too much after this move...

We have to turn/twist it 3 times before it finds it's resting place.

Four of us were able to lift it up onto the trailer...but since we have to finagle it through 2 doorways, we have to lift it up on its side around 2 corners.

This afternoon, I built a quasi-replica of the stand out of wood just to see if it would fit around the corners...

And it does...although I will have to move about 30 storage boxes out of the way before Saturday morning.

I can offer beer and pizza, although 10am may be a little early for that...

So I can get my neighbors primed for this...what time do you think you'll be by here Steve? 10:00am?

....here it is being forklifted out of the shop...

Carl,

Do we need to rotate it so the feet are to the side or up or whatnot? Or just turns?

It will all be on the same floor - no stairs...actually there is a one-step down...no biggie.

Issue is, we need to turn in on it's side to get it through the back door, then across the basement. Then we need to flip it on it's OTHER side to get through the door into the fish room. That'll be the difficult part...flipping it from one side, to the other side. And there isn't ton's of room to do this flip.

 I could put a boston whaler on that, I'll be there on saturday if I can.

Jason - That would be great if you could !!

There may even be something in my 70 that I could frag for you...

or if we can get the pajama cardinals out of the tank...

Guys

Can I seriously recommend you all rent a floor dolly with big wheels? A lot of weight to be messing with!
