dhoch July 23, 2006 July 23, 2006 Ok, I'm looking for help iding the following SPS I just picked up: First up is a stylo or a pocillopora (leaning towards stylo) Next is this some kind of acro? I belive this is an acro but just want to be sure (great multi colors on it): Ok this next one I'm at a loss... please help: (two pics) Finally a blue tort or so I believe: Thanks, Dave
iceman July 23, 2006 July 23, 2006 Dave, The first is a stylophora and the rest are all acroporas. As for the type of acros, I'll have to get back to you on those. Very nice pieces by the way!! Bob
dhoch July 23, 2006 Author July 23, 2006 Bob, Your help would be greatly appreciated, can make more pics if necessary... Thanks...(the biggest one has a little goby living in it as a bonus Dave
iceman July 23, 2006 July 23, 2006 Let me guess...the first acro colony pictured holds the fish? You may find that may not be a good thing. I just need to locate my books to help ID those acros...I'll keep looking.
dhoch July 24, 2006 Author July 24, 2006 Yup... you are correct... He's really tiny (smaller than a guppy)... he's been in it since the coral was brought in... (and I bought it off another reefer (stank) who had it for a while)... didn't feel like removing him from his home... Why might that be a problem? Interested in what books you are refering too (might be interested in trying to aquire them myself). Dave
dbartco July 24, 2006 July 24, 2006 my guesses stylo looking now for cluster acros... cool, want a peice, but no clue. Looks almost like that garf bonsai http://www.garf.org/67/bluered1000750.jpg tenius? tort
dhoch July 24, 2006 Author July 24, 2006 Yeah but that garf bonsi doesn't have green tips (you are # 3 on the list for that one)... Dave
Prunfarm July 24, 2006 July 24, 2006 I'm no SPS person, but pics 4 and 5 look similar to some deep water acros I've seen for sale at reefermadness.
dhoch July 24, 2006 Author July 24, 2006 Yeah for #4 a deep water acro was something that was suggested.... Dave
Leishman July 24, 2006 July 24, 2006 1: Stylo 2: Looks like an A. Samoensis that has grown in low flow, hence the thiner branches. 3: Who gives a crap it's nice and I'm PO'd that I'm #2 in line for it! 4: A. Jacquelineae 5: Cali/ORA Tort But what do I know...........
dhoch July 24, 2006 Author July 24, 2006 Rik Thanks and... 3: Who gives a crap it's nice and I'm PO'd that I'm #2 in line for it!
stank July 27, 2006 July 27, 2006 Dave, told ya #3 was something pretty special. Good luck with them and the goby has been fine and should be as long as you dont get a mate for it, they are bad for acros when they lay the eggs on them.
